Options
Been with Halifax for some time and have an excellent credit rating. Wondering if i approached them to get a 0% deal for 3 months or so? Anyone have any luck or advice on this?

Halifax is not renowned for follow-on offers, but there's no harm in asking. Let us know how you get on ;)

Btw, if you ring Card Services on 01315 498050, you'll avoid the perishing 0870/0845 numbers.

Or ask them to call you back through http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/callback.asp and ask to speak to Credit Cards.
  • I wouldn't bother with Halifax - I am a great customer - 14k limit - have been customer for over 7 years - never late with payments, use the card alot and have just nearly paid off the balance and you know what they have increased my rate from 15.9% to over 20%. Disgusting - I even threatened to change my bank account - didn't budge them:mad::mad:

It never ceases to amaze me that people think such an approach will make a bank change a policy decision for an individual customer.

Been offered 0% for 6 months or 5.94% life of balance both with 3% fee in the last couple of weeks by 'customer loyalty' when I asked to cancel my card, they would not budge on better than that.

Halifax have come out with 'existing customer' offers for dormant accounts - that were worth considering at the time - in the past but, IME, you can't get them to 'make you an offer' when you opt to close and it is easier to close the account wait at least 3 months and reapply as a new customer. But even then, there seems to be a relentless trend to cut credit limits available (which have never been particularly good) on re-acceptance.

  • Well Opionions 4U I did threaten to close my account yesterday and they have now lowered my interest rate> Result. You have to be persistent with these people:j
