As a great fan of PC gaming, my wife has finally decided to go and buy a wii for the kids christmas (placed on the conveyor at tesco while I chatted to the till girl), and I guess we're gonna need an extra controller...or something?
She's bought
Wii + wii sports pack + 2 extra games (monopoly? + something else)
Wii fit with board thing (heavy box)
As her plan is *cough* family fun, I guess I'll need extra controllers for 2+ player *cough* fun, but there seem to be 2 main choices, the wii controller @ around £30, available from amazon with wii play game, and the nunchuck @ around £14.
I guess the steering wheels etc...are just holders for the standard controller, so not worried about those for now.
There is also the motion plus accessory? and battery packs, charge stations...games.....
So...you guys that haven't an inbuilt hatred of all things console, what else do I 'need' to buy, and what 'should' I buy? Budget is 23p, but I can stretch a little further if necessary
Thanks

I used to run the tap or think of waterfalls to have a Wii:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Nintendo should never have called it that, how many kids have wet themselves cause their said "mummy I want a wii" and Mom said "no they are too expensive":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740 -
You don't need anything else really. You could buy the charging station for the controllers, but I opted for cheap batteries from Ikea. The Wii Sports game will keep you going for ages.
Got mine for my 30th back in April and the wife got the Wii Fit. Bought a second controller from Tesco, didn't bother with the nunchuck - never use the one I got with the machine. You could spend a fortune on extras for the thing.
Wife had all these great plans to use the Wii Fit everyday and then we discovered she was pregnant and it has never been out of the box (but I am assured it will be when baby is born).
Shop around for the extras, memorybits were offering a massive discount on the steering wheel / sports pack.
I enjoy using it, good fun with a group of drunken adults. Just be prepared to get beaten by the kids.......

I would just get the extra wii controller for now so that you can play games such as tennis as two players. See how much the kids play it before spending loads of cash on more extras.Today is the first day of the rest of your life0

SD card for saving games a 2gb one is fine. Also set it up for internet and download the opera browser for free
I use a charging station for two remotes but because it takes ages for batteries to charge up I always connect the charger which is usb to pc so its always 100% charged
Steering wheel is good for driving games like mario kart and I find nunchuck useful. I also got a decent gun not the cheap ones as they are naff for shooting games
I bought two motion things from Amazon but few games support it as yet
This is the gun I got

Oh if it hasn't got a component video lead it gives better picture in a modern tv rather than scart can be found for around £8

less than £3 for cable0 -
If you are going to get the extra controller get the game " wii play" as it comes with a 1 x contoller (no nunchuck). This way you get an extra game. If its for the kids, I would buy and extra nunchuk too, so that they have contoller & nunchuck each.
When we bought our wii, we purchased 2 extra controllers & 2 extra nun chucks as we tend to get 4 player games, but one of us has to not play as we are to "tight" to buy 4th set of contoller/nunchuck! lol.0 -

Where to buy and what is a component lead?
I personally wouldn't bother with the steering wheel and be aware that as a driver you will be awful and the kids who don't drive will win0 -

To add, I just bought a nunchuck charger operated by batteries and makes the nunchuck wireless, it doesn't contain a nunchuck but was only £4 found in the dvd/cd/games bargain bins at my local Tesco. Haven't tried it yet and bought it because it was only £4.0

what else do I 'need' to buy,
Then take it for a long walk while the rest of the family are squabbling/ breaking ankles with the wretched machine.;)
p.s. you may not have noticed, but I am not a fan of such contraptions.Move along, nothing to see.0
