They are fun and don't worry about your colours - bonkers is great

:rotfl:actually, as well as them being something *ahem* different to knit, it is a subject very close to my heart as I struggled to breastfeed my third baby (now 3) as she had tongue tie, and I expressed for 6 months. So a feeding/expressing teaching tool is a fab idea!

I hope Maytaurus will add her wonderful links to this thread, too. I shall ask her if she wants to add or adapt her main link post, then it can be copied and pasted to the start of this new thread. Maytaurus - I hope you are keeping well and aware of our move.

That's a great idea, magic fairy :rotfl:

You are right ISOM, it is just like magic and I love the image of Kathy wafting around with a wand. A sparkly one :D

Gosh, that must have been hard work - it isn't always as easy as it's sold is it? Is your DD Ok now? She'll be old enough to knit soon :D

Good morning everyone and a warm welcome to our newbies!

ChocClare and Helyg - I'm sorry if the old thread seemed scary - we're a nice bunch really! Thanks to LC Wilson for posting the link to Maytaurus's post which is full of links to patterns, tutorials, and all sorts of other goodies. She's always looking for new things for us. If you come across anything you think we'd like, please feel free to post it here! If you have any questions, please ask - there's always someone who will come along and answer, and no question is a daft question, so fire away!

Any more newbies lurking out there? Come on in, the water's lovely!

K2tog - I agree that breastfeeding isn't always easy. I struggled with both mine, but got there in the end after much frustration and many many tears. Both my DILs found it much easier, thankfully.

ISOM - I made this scarf recently for a birthday pressie for my Mum. It's really easy and I was thrilled at the finished result http://www.caron.com/projects/bliss/B5_ruffle_scarf.html

Maytaurus - I hope you are OK. I'm just about to pm you.

    Will catch up later.

    Morning all,
Well I notice the IS hats deadline was looming, so knitted three last night ;). Just got to make the pom poms and then will post some pics on wooligans on yahoo. Also started a crib (from a link someone posted for me, cannot remember who, it is called 'Lorna's Crib'), and am still on the back of DS's green sweater. Also need to think what to knit mum for Christmas/Birthday- was thinking a nice scarf or perhaps something else....any ideas (she is 67 this December) ?
Might sneak in to town today, to the better wool shop, and see if they have anything in their bargain bucket that would do some more small projects.
Welcome all newbies and hope everyone is ok.

    morning all

welcome to all newbies - you will love it here, we are a great bunch if i say so myself.

isom - well done with the granny squares. i think the idea of a blanket for someone for christmas is a great idea - if you look at attic24's post of yesterday you will see what you can create - she is fab! also, with regards the scarf, i did not use the pattern that kathy posted, but used a similar one, and have already produced two of those scarfs, and have bought the wool for 3 more - they are easy, quick and very effective - i am definitely going to make one for myself. By the way isom - i spent a couple of hours in my study yesterday, just getting rid of clutter (some to the loft, some to recycling and the rest to the charity shop) and it was so much better that my hubby nearly fell over when he walked in! well done to you for the inspiration you provided - next i am going to hit my wardrobes!

orkney - have posted off my is hats - so feel good about that. with regards the scarf - i have looked on all the websites and through all the books at the library and found that the pattern that kathy posted is the nicest, most feminine scarf. i have made a lilac one (in mohair) for my MIL for her birthday in november and am going to make her a ripple shawl (lion brand crochet patterns) for christmas.

decided yesterday that the house did not have enough colour in it, so think that when i have finished the big blankie and the squares for KAS in SA, i am going to start brightening up our house with some happy hooking products! perhaps i am spending too much time looking at other peoples blogs.

have a lovely day everyone, am looking forward to hearing what you are up to on my return from my "every other day torture"... the gym.

    Morning ladies.

Welcome to new girls. Have fun.

ISOM well done with the granny squares:T, the Lionbrand site has a few patterns for items made from them, just remember it's american and convert accordingly!

I have a loopa somewhere that was free with a magazine some time ago, put away to be tried out 'sometime'. Can I find it? Must be with K2tog's needle and cheque book, giggling. Had a look at the instructions, would it be easier with a crochet hook for the binding yarn do you think? Must go and have another search so I can try it.

Orkneystar I'm making a shrug for my sister for christmas, she's 65, and I thought it might be an idea for your mum? A bit dressier than a cardi maybe.

Maytaurus how are you? Any news on J R puppy?

mioliere if you've got a magic wand I'm sure you'd have used it on the dust!

Nice to see you prfungi, hope you're well.

Love and hugs to everyone xx

the loopa is made of plastic, but thick card would work.
the outer measurement of the mini one is 12 an half cm wide, and 11 cm deep.
the thickness is 4 cm all round

    shaz xxx

Many thanks Shaz, I will attempt to make my own version :rotfl:, like many others I had googled this yesterday & thought it was something that just had to be experimented with .

Thanks to Moliere & Pen Pen for the new thread.

Welcome to all newbies, this is a lovely thread with really caring & helpful people :A, although I haven't been posting for a while it still feels like coming home. Enjoy yourselves & don't feel embarassed to ask any questions, everyone has to learn or ask at some point.

Take care everyone & good luck with all your various projects.
