I've worked with many people who own focus's and have lots of problems with them. One chap had a new engine after just 2 years and 30k miles! You'll hear lots more stories about faulty mechanics on fords than on a VW, plus the VW holds it's 2nd hand value much better.
I've owned both fords and VW's in the past and would now be very reluctant to leave the VW/audi camp. You get what you pay for and I think they're worth it.
Well it depends on who you listen too, ive know more problems with vw than ford (i am no fan of ford by any means), but if i wanted a car for reliability between the focus and golf i would go for the focus everytime, also not as boring as the golf and cheaper to run, vw dealers are rip off merchants and clowns0 -
Hi I am sure that you are not after everyone's opinion of whether they like a Golf or not. As a private buyer I have an idea as to what car and model I want then as a starting point I go to millennium-cars.co.uk who deal with near new cars and there is a golf for sale on that site. I have purchased a few pre-registered cars with 0 miles on them and have saved thousands of pounds over recent years. Good Luck!! "Did you hear about the frog that broke down on the motorway???? They toad him away!"0

Why not just keep it? 60K isn't high mileage. Or is it expensive to run?It will be mainly used for motorway commuting, roughly 100miles a day!!! Curently drive a BMW 3 series, and the mileage on that is spiralling (bought last year @ 34k, nearly hitting 60k soon).
Golfs are not nearly as good as they were once. Other branches of the VAG group, like Skoda, sell the same cars for less, Ford & Vauxhall have closed the gap and the Golf is overweight by the largest margin.
On the plus side, there must be a load of ex fleet Golfs out there, so I think you can probably find one for a good price.Happy chappy0
