If you went fee based with an IFA with trail rebated, that would be cheaper or you could use an IFA with no trail rebated but no future servicing charges.
I understand what you say about using a IFA who could charge a fee and rebate the trail commision but the problem is finding one with a good track record hence my intial look at H&L; Will that be the next thing a league table of IFA's?
Bestinvest could be a good way to go as they keep the trail commission of 0.5% and but give free advice. This would still save me thousands compared with my existing IFA using the elevate platform.0 -

If you are going to DIY, then track record means nothing. HL's SIPP is a non-advice product. You will pick the investments, not them. If you are going to DIY then get an IFA to set up a trail rebated plan on execution only basis. Will that be the next thing a league table of IFA's?
Totally impossible and largely pointless. Portfolios with the most risk will typically be best in growth periods and worst in declines . Portfolios with the lowest risk will be worst in growth periods and best in declines.Bestinvest could be a good way to go as they keep the trail commission of 0.5% and but give free advice.
I dont know what the advice is but free advice could mean basic advice rather than full advice. Maybe someone else will answer it. Given the amount of work and number of hours involved and the costs and liability, to do it for free suggests something has to give. This would still save me thousands compared with my existing IFA using the elevate platform.
True. Although there are 25,000 others out there who could be better.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
