Have you thought of putting name labels in all his nursery clothes ?

Ok,the average 3 year old won't be able to read his name, but the staff and other parents will !!

It was labelled with his name as they asked and can't just simply disappear. He is in a small group in an area separate from the other chidren, so a maximum of 8 other children had access to where it was kept.

The OP had labelled the coat.

Thanks again for the replies (and thanks Pollycat for clearing that up).

    Just to clarify:

The coat (and all his other nursery clothes) have his name inside as the nursery have asked. With regards to putting something on the zipper etc I agree that's a good idea but in this case it wouldn't have avoided the situation. It wasn't that my little boy didn't know it was his coat (he definitely recognises his clothes and I know from his personality that he would have told someone if he saw them putting his coat on by mistake! :-) ), it was more that when DH went to pick him up, there was NO coat. One of the other children who had gone home earlier than him, presumably while he was still busy playing, must have taken it.

Just to update you, it's now a week later and the coat hasn't turned up. It's really annoying, but I guess I'll have to put it down to experience and as I said before, hope it's not a regular occurrence!

Thanks again for your input! I really appreciate you taking the time to reply.
