good idea spendless it is worth asking as you say kids clothing is quite similar most time no may just not have realised they have someone elses.yet if no parents have access to the cloakroom area then surely the nursery staff are at fault there for giving it out to someone else:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Thank you Susan Frost,
That's exactly how I feel! I certainly don't want to dress him in designer clothes, but I also couldn't afford to keep replacing even cheap clothing should it go missing all the time.
I also think it's bad that they sent him home in nothing but a tshirt because they couldn't find his sweatshirt or coat! Fortunately it wasn't the middle of December but what would've happened if it had been?

If there is only 8 other kids I'd aske each one of their parents (whoever drops them off/picks them up) if they've seen it. I once took home another child's coat by mistake. It was very very similar to my daughter's (that I left behind) and the other mum came round to my house to tell me. I hadn't noticed as we often had several coats on the go (large family who often bought clothes from charity shops, car boots etc).
Thanks Spendless,
Unfortunately our working hours/nursery opening times mean little man is dropped off by his childminder in the morning and as I said we pick him up later than most of the others so we don't ever get chance to see the other parents.

Can't his childminder ask? Also at school nursery there was often a notice up saying 'Can you check your child's jumper/coat as Fred Smiths is missing'0

Hello,
My DD has been going to nursery for 2 1/2 years now and we get the same thing, often she comes hom in different clothes too which I'm not sure whether they belong to nursery or other children! This really perturbed me at first but I came to the conclusion that she will just never wear anything 'decent' that I wouldn't want to lose to nursery. I am sure that the workers have enough to deal with without chasing around after clothes so I tend to leave it now. Not ideal but you have to pick your battles don't you?!0 -
Thanks mwa,
That's the conclusion I'm rapidly coming to too, that this time we'll just have to let it go, in the hope it doesn't keep happening. I wouldn't be happy to just go with it though if it did become a regular thing. It's an expensive nursery which we've chosen specifically because there is a high staff/child ratio and I don't think it's too much to ask that the 8 (often less) children they look after come home in the clothes they arrived in (barring accidents of course!). I realise these things might happen on the odd occasion (not great, but I can see how it might happen as a one-off), but IMHO it shouldn't be accepted as 'one of those things'. I think the issue I have is more their laid'back attitude towards it-they almost seem surprised we're bothered.
Hopefully they realise now that we're not too happy about it and therefore it might not happen again too often! =]
I'll defo continue to send him in 'scruffs' as I call them and keep my fingers crossed!
Thanks again everyone!

I guess that's the difference between being 3 years old and an adult. They don't care what they wear as long as they can go out and play0 -
In future could you not attach something to his zipper like a piece of ribbon or a small keyring or a stuffed teddy so he knows its his coat or sew a small badge or something in the inside??So he knows its his coat and can identify it as being his??
Names are well and good but often small and can a 3year old read his name??
plus if its got something highly visible on it other kids will know it as being his and will say so if they get put in it??Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together0 -
Have you thought of putting name labels in all his nursery clothes ?
Ok,the average 3 year old won't be able to read his name, but the staff and other parents will !!0 -
not sure if its been mentioned but childminders are bad for taking the wrong coats home..I've had it done loads of times and my boys name is on the label!! Usually there is a jacket LEFT if yours has been taken by mistake though so thats how I always work out whos taken the coat..I always get them back the next day...You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0
