MSE News: Scottish Power flexes muscles in energy price war

The energy companies get tax deduction on promotion and advertising costs.
And what IF they also own the comparison sites, or able to influence the results.
The answer is for the customer to reduce consumption drastically and then claim everything going, grants, cashback, commissions et al.
When Scottish Power and the other main energy providers cease confusion marketing, then I might stop chasing a shilling myself.0 -

I was trying to make it more complicated than it was , thanks0

To re-iterate, the gist of my post was highlighting the fact that this new super duper tariff from SP is actually 16% cheaper than their standard rate but contained within its T&Cs is a clause which states it is only guaranteed to be a min of 3% cheaper so there's nothing stopping SP reverting the tariff to its min discount level compared to its standard tariff, and in the example I gave (average consumption in Yorkshire region) that would add £150 to the annual charge. The main complication here is there is an exit fee of £50 if you switch supplier, so worst case scenario is they can add £150 to the price you originally signed up for and they are totally covered by the T&C you agreed when you signed up. I think it's something a 'proper' regulator would outlaw.
PS I'd be interested to know if MSEGuy spotted this T&C? It certainly wasn't mentioned in the article...Call me Carmine....
