Wrong date on ISA statement

Hi there - Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the following problem?

I opened a Cash Isa at the end of March this year, and received a letter in the post, dated 4th April, telling me that my application has been complete and my ISA now fully open. ie this was for last years tax allowance.

However, on my bank statements, a date of 28th April 09 is showing up, ie this current tax year. (which would prevent me from opening another Cash ISA this year)

RBS are currently investigating what has happened, but thought I would ask to see if anyone else has had the same prob, either with RBS, or any otehr ISA provider.

Thanks!

What money have you paid into the account? Was it a transfer from an existing ISA with another bank, or new money that you paid in?
  • Hi rb10 - it was new money paid in, for the full £3600 allowance. When I opened the ISA, Im 99% certain the website had an announcement of the deadline for opening the account in time for last years allowance, which I made. Cheers!

In that case, keep pursuing it with them. Raise a formal complaint if necessary, and make sure you keep the confirmation that it had (or should have been) opened on 4th April.

I had the same thing happen with Barclays 2 years ago. The first statement I received (in MAY!!!!) had an April opening date and didn't confirm which year it was for.

I wrote a stinky letter to Barclays and had a response confirming that my ISA was applicable for the previous financial year. I've kept that letter safe, and certainly didn't have any problems opening a new ISA in the next financial year. :)

Oh yes, and I certainly didn't use Barclays again.
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.
