    I had an external Maxtor drive that used to overheat after a few hours. If I left it swicthed off for a day, it was fine for another few hours & it never failed any tests, but I replaced it anyway

    Basmic - do you know of a SMART data reader for windows? That would soon tell us if the HD is doing multiple error corrections/calibrations/seeks. I only know of one for Linux.
    You could also use SpeedFan - which will also tell you of fan speeds, temperatures and voltages of the computer. :)
    Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.

    The Drive temperature read as 46'C which seems OK (average temps. seem to be 50'C +).

    But as i said previously, i've got a couple more checks to do then i'll come back with an update.
  • I'm not entirely convinced it's related to a faulty drive just yet as the report says:
    ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc000000e - A device which does not exist was specified.

    DISK_HARDWARE_ERROR: There was error with disk hardware

    BUGCHECK_STR: 0x7a_c000000e

    Supersaver;

    How many hard drives do you have in your computer?

    With the power off, can you take the case off and check the cables that are connecting the drive (s) from the back of the drive itself to the motherboard.

    Do you have your Windows CD available?

    Do you use any software like Daemon Tools or anything else that would create a virtual drive on your computer? Nero can provide these, as well as certain back up programs.

    Before you do any testing or diagnostics, I would defintely go along with backing up files and folders. Sound like your drive could fail at any moment!

    And - humour me :) - was there a CD/DVD in your drive at the time, and what were you doing with the PC at the time?

    I've backed everything up onto an external hard drive & ran a few anti spyware/virus programs last week.
    Haven't had any problems (within the last 4 or 5 days or so) with the clicking or Blue error screen - until tonight. :rolleyes:

    Tried to burn some Music onto a CD and the dreaded Blue screen http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=25617325&highlight=#post25617325 came up again. There was no clicking noise this time though. :confused:
