Aaawww, FF! Mate! Bless! I don't think I've ever been called an inspiration before! Sorry to hear about your computer though, you must be so addicted to being on here that it's having a breakdown!
I suspect that my mum and my sister will have a word with him whilst we're on holiday so that might help the lightbulb moment along! Still I can't be cross with him, he's in the kitchen right now making our packed lunches for today. Bless.
I suspect I shall have changed my tune when the next big expenditure comes long and you'll no doubt all be the first to hear! Thanks for all the hugs and support guys. I feel quite silly for being so selfish now! :embarasseDebt Free Nerd No. 89, LBM: April 2006, Debt at highest (Sept 05): £40,939.96

Hi,
You are not being selfish, he is very lucky to have you. I think he knows this deep down, and don't you forget it either!

To be honest, if his debts are in his name & yours in your name (and you dont have any joint debts), I would just let him get on with it!! I dont see why you should supplement his income, and if he is going to be out of a job soon he needs to act fast!! I suppose the only saving grace is that he disapears off to the gym rather than the pub???!!
If he is the same age as you then he needs to grow up a bit as he is not a child!! Its not fair when you are working so hard & the OH keeps scarpering your chances of being debt free. I know it happens a lot on here - its wrong!! (makes me grateful for being single to be honest!!).
You are doing really really well, so keep up the good work. It is tough, but as a colleague used to say to me (and I could have killed him at the time, so perhaps I should duck?!) :rotfl:
"What doesnt kill you, makes you stronger"

Cheers guys.
You're right, we do have a strong relationship. I'm a bit of a stress head and he keeps me sane. The only sticking point is money (or our lack of it to be precise). I think he's coming round but excrutiatingly slowly from my perspective!! I shall just have to learn to be more patient (not one of my strong points I must say).
Ms_London - I am inspired by your progress and am v jealous of you jetting off, lucky girl. Being in so much debt and having to work in a job that I really don't like anymore but pays better than I'll get anywhere else has made me realise that once I am debt free the world could be my oyster. I can't wait to start saving so that when boyf and I do eventually get married we can go travelling for our honeymoon. It's goals like that which help to keep me focussed!
Thanks for all your support guys. I'm feeling much happier today (even after checking the bank account this morning!) :rotfl:Debt Free Nerd No. 89, LBM: April 2006, Debt at highest (Sept 05): £40,939.96

I would be jealous too!! This is what has kept me going through out my "Debt Free Wannabe" journey - and even now, saving so hard, I know that it will be worth it in the end!! (not much fun doing 2 jobs I can tell you!!)
Thats the thing, although my job is ok, its only "ok" and I feel as though I am wasting my life doing something I am truly not that bothered about!! The world can be your oyster & it will be worth it. I want to see and do as much as I can whilst I am away, so we're not talking just a year out here, and although I will miss my family & friends, there has got to be more to life than work, work, work!!
I think if I didnt have 9 weeks left of work I would go insane!! This is my prize & I cannot wait!!

I had a thought...did you say his debt was 20,000 & yours is 40,000? Unless he earns NOWT surely he should be helping you not visa versa...perhaps I got it wrong? Unsure...lets just hope that light flicks on like a football stadium any time now...can imagine how truely frustrating it can be when one trying & teh other with head in sand...how did bank account look tonight! Must check mine as just sold another 2 things on amazon! Yahoo...actually a nice surprise to see I made 7 while at work, tho it was a book rather than CD which weighs more!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Cheers hun. Yes I'm in more debt than him, but proportionately against our salaries I'm in a better off situation than him. Just goes to show that no matter how much you earn, if you live beyond your means, you will land yourself in trouble!
We had another row this morning about the big bag of crisps I bought for lunches for the week! "10 pack +5 free packets" I thought, "should be more than enough to get us through the week with some left until next week". It's Tuesday, we have four packets of crips left and three days to make them stretch over. I know I've had two packets so how has managed to trough his way through the rest?!
My family all take the mickey out of him because he eats in quantities I have never seen the like of in all my life. But for me it's more problematic. How on earth do I budget for food shopping (which is still astronomically high compared to everyone else on here so I'm too ashamed to admit how much we spend) when he eats us out of house and home as it is??
Grrr - sorry, another long rant from me - I'm really not a very happy person these days am I? Do we think the honeymoon period has worn off perchance?Debt Free Nerd No. 89, LBM: April 2006, Debt at highest (Sept 05): £40,939.96

Molanole,
the food shopping is a toughie. Can you get him to do a menu plan and the shopping, giving him £20 for the week. It CAN be done, we went from 75 to 25 a week. But we did 20 for a month too ( went slightly over)
Personally, If I were in your situation, is there anyway you can "divide" the cupbards so that he has "his half" or a tidy box towards his lunches. If he eats them tough. take yours to the office and keep them safe there? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
