Because using a courier would be the obvious answer if I could afford it! I must be such an ungrateful creature to offer to make all the place cards, menu cards & items for the seating plan for free! I can't be ungrateful if no offer is made & surely its better to explain why I'm not using someone's suggestion than to ignore it.You do sound ungrateful, how was the person suggesting a courier to know that you had already thought of that?
Sounds to me like you just want somebody to do your fetching and carrying for you, without I suspect any, or not much reward.
I'm certainly not trying to get someone to do my fetching and carrying for me, I am trying to reduce the anxiety of a stressed out Bride who is worrying that this stuff will get lost or damaged in the post. I'm sure there are plenty of delivery drivers or sales reps making a similar journey tomorrow & was simply asking if someone could take a parcel with them, I would have taken the parcel to them & would have arranged for them to be met where ever was convenient for the envelope to be collected, I'm not asking anyone to go out of their way on my behalf if they are making the journey anyway and don't judge others by your standards I would have offered the person money to buy themselves some beers.
Its irrelevant now anyway! Thanks for the grief and I hope you never unselfishly try to do something nice for someone!0 -

Is it too far away to send it in a Taxi?

70 miles! I would take it to her myself but I haven't got the time now. I sent the original bits for the seating plan about a fortnight ago, but its turned into a rush now because a couple have dropped out last minute so another couple are taking their place and the seating plan needs to be changed. Is it too far away to send it in a Taxi?

Its slightly smaller than A4 (was small enough to be classed as a Large Letter & not a parcel by Royal Mail) weighing less than 400 grams. Same day couriers started at £20, Next Day couriers £12+.
have a look on this thread though you will still be cheaper with RM SD

So you don't trust Royal Mail but you'd trust a random stranger volunteering on the Internet?0

Is there not someone who can come and collect it from you who lives over that way or even meet you half way. That way it's only a couple of hours and can be done at any time of the day or night.
When we were getting married I was meeting my sister-in-law in a motorway services carpark late at night to collect things (looked well dodgy to any onlookers
) but we live 60 miles from each other and needed the stuff for the wedding arrangements. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.0

Er yeah, what they gonna do? Hold something that's worth nothing to ransom! I still believe in human kindness. So you don't trust Royal Mail but you'd trust a random stranger volunteering on the Internet?
The Bride is so stressed she's having chest pains & she doesn't drive on the motorway, the rest of the family have caught a heavy cold & are desperately trying to get rid of it! Personally I don't see what the panic is about, I could put the seating plan together when I get there Friday night and take everything else to the venue but I understand the Bride wanting to know everything is done. I was just trying to find a way of getting this stuff to her quickly so she has 1 less thing to worry about. Is there not someone who can come and collect it from you who lives over that way or even meet you half way. It's gone in the post now so fingers crossed...0
