    Definitely not!

    Please do as Chippy recommends.

Excellent suggestion, CM. My thought processes were a little slow there.

Mine does this occasionally and the one at the bottom "Sysytem Idle process" fluctuates a lot whilst I view it but it is ften at 98ish dropping to 66 17 etc and back up to 98. Is there something wrong or is this normal?
"system Idle Process" simply shows how much free CPU you have got.... there's nothing wrong with this application, infact, if its usualy in its 90s, that means there's nothing wrong... none of your programs have crashed or hogging the resources... you have a problem if another program is frequently using high CPU for long peroids of time

It can fluctuate quite a bit but I think if it stays 100% all the time then theres a problem.

Ok just try this, Only have your desktop and performance showing then open media player no need to play a song but it should shoot up to about 90ish percent then drop back to about 5% if it stays up the top there may be a nasty somewhere.

You can uncheck all the Processes in the MSCONFIG section as long as you hide all the Microsoft Processes first.
Once done, restart and start up all the programs that you need running. and go from there.
Some excellent suggestions above and great links.

What were you doing at the time ? What programmes/applications were open ? Before presuming to know how to fix the problem we really need to establish the state of your PC at the time. By slow do you mean the programmes were slow or was it just the internet that was slow ? It's difficult to find a solution without knowing the exact problem and symptoms.

Errr dont know what you mean as all posts here are relevant, as they are both on the same subject matter and may help both members in distress.

and also confuse both of the posters, you may post instructions for one that the other follows by mistake and vice versa

much easier to post relevant answers to EACH poster in their own thread
