First post been lurking for some time, hope someone can advise me.
My OH bought a item of jewellery from eBay, paid with paypal, the item was in a presentation box,
It arrived signed for, so far so good, opened the jiffy took out the box empty !!
Had a good look at the jiffy and it has been cut just enough to get the item out. Contacted seller who is adamant it was in the box when sent, so I have the proof of postage now to make a claim via royal mail. I have cheeked the weight of the receipt and the weight of the packaging guess what the packaging is 1gram heavier than the posted weight. The missing item would be another 8-10 grams on top of the packaging..
The item could be worth 20 to 30 times more than the selling price I think the seller had realised this. I am not saying it has not been sent it just looks dodgy
what would be the best way to approach this…….

            am I missing something here?
how can the packaging, be heavier than the posted weight?
the posted weight will be the weight it was when the lady/man handed it over to the post office staff, so if anything what you have should weigh less not more.???? 2007 £1749 2007 £1749
 2008 £291.99
 2009 JanMasscara £7.00 Feb megcabot books x 2 £20 XFactor tkts x 2 £58.00 (couldn't go though as they only phoned on day :-( ) foundation £7.99
total so far for 09 £92.990

            Thanks for your reply
It is only one gram more that could be the stickers the post office put on.0

I would open a paypal dispute. Its up to the sender to claim off Royal Mail for any losses not the reciever. Take lots of photos of the damage to the packaging and send them to the seller and request a refund.0

you dont get a refund unless you return the item! i suppose you could just send the empty box back.I would open a paypal dispute. its a hard one to call,i would tell seller you are involving police and see if that shakes them at all.
custardy might be able to help.TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0

            Would the police be interested?
 Would they do anything?0

Thanks but defiantly not the same.
If we was to believe the seller had sent it and made a claim via royal mail would we be the ones being fraudulent, knowing about the weights and all.0

I am in a similar spot at the moment just started a claim through PayPal.
I am sure one of the more experienced will give you sound advice on how to deal with it.
99% of eBay sellers are honest just the odd ones spoil it.0
