Miele are by far the best manufacturer of Washing Machines for the domestic market. Bar none.
I'd dispute that and suggest that ISE make the cream of the crop. Like Miele they've got solid engineering down to a fine art and are designed to last 20 years in the domestic environment (assuming one wash load every day).

What really sets them apart from Miele is how reasonable their servicing and spares charges are - they are the only manufacturer not to put any markup on the sale of spares. That has to be the ultimate incentive to produce a machine that won't break down in the first place (compared with manufacturers who make as much money - if not more - selling spares as they do the machines). Out-of-warranty Miele servicing is the most expensive in the business.

Granted at £800 (for this one (they only make two!)) they're not cheap but given they provide AAA performance (even on a 75min 40oC wash) and should outlive cheaper machines multiple times over they do make long-term economic sense.

Not knocking Miele of course, just your 'bar none' opinion! ;)

P.S. Back to the original topic I agree with those that have said Which? reviews are not what they used to be. I sometimes feel that in many cases they blag the reviews and err towards recommending the 'safe bet' (usually a particularly well-known brand in the field).

I have a Miele too its a really good machine
that has a solid build quality, washes
everything really well and is totaly silent when its
on,so silent you keep wondering if you have
    remembered to switch it on.

previous poster keeps going on about cheaper
repairs in his post dont know anyone with
a Miele that has ever had a repairman out.

Miele are clearly the tops but if you need a delayed start, Hotpoint do one on their WMF760a model which you can buy for just under £400. I had to replace my cherished Indesit last year and was short of cash at the time but had a long list of functions for a new w-m. In the end I went with Hotpoint (WT640), and was pleasantly surprised. Only drawback is it is very noisy, but I have it in the cupboard and run it overnight (my alternative to deferred timer) so it's not really a big deal.
