i have a phone that i need to list on ebay today for my sister, though after some of the posts i have read on here i am rather nervous about doing so

is there anything in particular that i need to state in the auction? to try and avoid the scammers out there?

Don't use a BIN and put a statement on the auction that you won't ship overseas to aunts, uncles or children, so don't bother asking. Scammers don't want hassle, they know that 99.99% of ebay sellers are not going to fall for the Nigerian scam anymore so they will move on to target other auctions.

I got a phone to sell for a friend. I was going to list it tomorrow when it's cheap listing day.

It's a Motorola V3 RAZR & they are wanting around £60-£65 for it, what's the best way to do this? Start it low with a reserve of £60 or start it at £60?

Is it best to put will only post to a CONFIRMED address on Paypal?

I sold a phone for my brother last year which I accepted Paypal & PO's only - is this the best way to do it again? His only went for around £35 though but I still said Special Delivery only which I will do so again.

My friend was wanting a Buy It Now but is it wise not to put this?

Why put a buy it now in this case? You might get more than you realise as its a popular phone.

    You have 4 options IMO
    a) Start it at 99p and see how it goes. IMO you won't do too badly price wise.
    b) Start it at 99p and put a £60 reserve. This will cost quite a bit and doesn't guarantee it will sell even if someone bids.
    c) Start it at £49.99 (just underneath the price increase bracket) and hope for the best.
    d) Set the starting price at the amount you would like.

Option A is the cheapest, but more risky. B and D guarantee you get what you want...

It's only going to cost 5p to put it on tomorrow no matter what I start it at.

If you start it low then it will get more interest and bids on it. I would chance it and see how it goes. I sold a phone on Friday and got much more than I thought I would. Was panicking a bit about buyer with low feedback and paying by cheque (see above). Cheque arrived today, put it straight into bank and because it was same bank as mine the money cleared straight away. I checked with the cashier that it couldn't be cancelled now it was in my bank and she said it couldn't be. :T

Does this wording seem ok? Anything you would change? Thanks

"This is an auction for a Silver Motorola V3 RAZR locked to Orange network. This comes with the wall charger & a BRAND NEW Orange Simcard but no box or manual - the item will be packaged well for posting. The photo is of the actual phone for sale!

The phone is in excellant, almost new condition. Selling for a friend due to an upgrade, I don't know much about the phone itself but can find out any information for you so please feel free to ask any questions & I will get back to you asap.

I have the phone here ready to post via Special Delivery to the winning bidder within 3 working days of winning bid although usually within 24 hours!

For this item only I will accept Paypal to a confimed address or Postal Orders - NO OTHER PAYMENT Methods accepted. Please pay within 1 week if possible, or let me know if payment will be delayed.

This is a UK ONLY auction & I will not post to anyone other than in the UK under any circumstances - so no asking for it to be posted to your friend/relative in NIGERIA etc!!! "

Well, it's currently at £26, so I must be doing something right!
