Selling a phone: am I crazy?!

I want to sell my phone!
I've decided not to accept paypal, and to ask for cheques, postal orders or bank transfers. Is this wise?
And I've put I won't ship to Nigeria on the bottom of the auction.
I've made a note of the IMEI number.
I'm only sending by Special Delivery.
Is there anything else I need to do/be aware of?

I would remove the cheque option and accept Bankers Drafts instead. That way the it will almost certainly clear. With normal cheques even if they clear they can still be cancelled and the money taken out of your account. The same goes with Bank Transfers. They can recall the money even after it has been credited. So just have Bankers drafts of Postal Orders as an option if not using paypal.0 -
ive had alot of probs with new buyers (0 feedback) so i never sell to those - i dunno if that might help putting that down alsoSticks and stones may break my bones
Oh but your words :heartpuls They really kill me :heartpuls0 -

I have sold three phones in the past 6 weeks, all with paypal and two to buyers with less than 5 feedback.
The only terms and conditions I put in my auction were that I would not ship overseas to brothers, aunts or other associated relatives, so please don't ask.
Also I know people don't trust paypal, but would you bid on a phone where it wasn't offered?

You've got me panicking now. I sold a phone on Saturday night to a buyer with only 1 feedback. He's going to send a cheque. How do they cancel a cheque once it clears?:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -

It is rare to have a cheque cancelled after clearing for funds. There needs to be something wrong with the cheque or the account. I had one reversed after 6 weeks as the words and figures were different (ie the words said x pounds and ninety one pence, the figures said £x . 90). I also had one reversed due to a problem with the issuing bank, it was complicated and seemed to hinge on the fact that it was a joint account and the cheque was issued by a party no longer supposed to sign, it wasn't noticed by the issuing bank for a couple of weeks and was only recalled when one of the other parties on the cheque complained.

Well, I personally wouldn't buy a phone from anywhere! But I've added paypal now, as it might increase the pricesoolin wrote:I have sold three phones in the past 6 weeks, all with paypal and two to buyers with less than 5 feedback.
