Am I over reacting?

On our work intranet a few weeks ago I saw a garage workbench for sale at £50. It wasn't exactly what I was after so offered £20 for it. The offer was accepted.
I enquired about collection and they asked to delay it for a few days as they were using it for a kitchen re-fit which I accepted. I couldn't collect it that weekend (19th & 20th)n as I had my children. They were okay with this. Last Friday I text them enquiring about the dimensions as I hoped it would fit in to my sisters 4x4. Unfortunately it was too large. I told them I would arrange alternative transport.
This morning I managed to arrange transport for Thursday but shortly afterwards I received a text from them telling me someone else had offered £50 which they had accepted! I was livid!
I'm the sort of person that if I've made a deal then I would stick to it even if someone had offered more at a later date. Maybe I'm just morally old fashioned this way.
Anyway I expressed my annoyance to the seller but they are just brushing me off. In my annoyance I even threatened to take them to the small claims court for breach of contract!
Do you think I'm over reacting or do you think I'm right and have a case?

Yes, you are over-reacting.
They can refuse to sell it to you and can sell it to whoever they want.
It is just one of those things.0 -
This case is something that has probley happend to all of us at some stage. You will only be able to take action if payment was taken from you already. Also, you didn't sign a contract so that wouldn't work!. You are slightly over reacting but i dont blame you, i would be very angry.. Well, it has happened to me and i was mega **** off! But you cant take any action. It would be a waste of time just over a bench! If you was the seller, and someone offered more than double, would you really say no?.
Good luck finding a new bench anyway!0 -
You probably have no legal redress. However it's a shoddy way of going about things, and it seems this person can't be trusted.0

You've been gazumped!"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

From the seller's point of view, they could have thought that you were messing them around. In the mean time they have to pay for storage of it, or have it in the way when they really wanted rid. If I were them - I would have taken the other buyer's money too.0

I've been in constant communication with them. It was they who delayed picking it up initially as they had a kitchen re-fit. I contacted them last Friday and asked them dimensions etc so they knew I was still intersetsed.
Anyway it seems they have had a change of heart and I'm collecting it on Thursday.0 -

Change of heart - my foot.
The other buyer don't want it.
I would tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine.0 -

You should probably just get a grip.0 -
Offering such a reduced price was taking the mickey. You snooze - you lose. Should've paid the full amount.0
