Shipping to an unconfirmed Paypal Address

I bought something today using my basic paypal account that I just use for Quidco. The account is unconfirmed and it isn't obvious that is the case unless I go and look for it. I'm not sure quite what you mean about the buyer knowing when he logged in, paying through the ebay 'pay now' button wouldn't even had bought up his full paypal page anyway?

I mis-spoke (or mis-typed). What I should have said was, when he paid, the address that he selected for shipping indicates whether it is confirmed (at least mine does) I also sometimes ship stuff purchased from ebay to my DD at college, and that is an unconfirmed address, and it shows up as such. Perhaps I always go the long way round? The alternative, and I can't check this, is that since most of my purchases come from ebay.com, there's a different sequence of messages. However, I recognise that the inexperienced might not know what a confirmed address is, which is why I asked the OP if he/she had explicitly explained what a confirmed address was when he/she listed the phone.
Now if I've managed to confuse everyone, I'll leave it there.
I was wondering, if you put certain (ebay acceptable) T & C's in your listing, and a buyer didn't follow them, can you file a NPB report and get your listing fees back?0 -

ALl seller options allowed for by ebay can be set as seller preferences. So I would assume (but don't know for sure) that if you list something with your own terms, like persons with less than 5 feedback must not bid, then you cannot enforce that as ebay's own seller preferences only allow for bidders with an overall negative feedback score. I would also think this applies to paypal as well, ie you cannot set limits or conditions, you either take it or you don't.
Obviously no one can force a seller to sell despite what ebay themselves suggest, but if a seller refuses payment the only option a buyer has is to neg and do a non performing seller complaint. Perosnally if I was 100% convinced I was going to be scammed then I would rather take a neg than los emoney. However, I have no problems with zero feedback buyers, or with unconfirmed paypal addresses *as long as* there aren't any other worrying things with the buyer, ie buying up lots of phones in a short period of time, or having missing contact details.
If I wasn't sure I would probably obtain the buyers contact details and give them a ring. If the number is wrong then don't send the goods and report them to ebay for bad contact details. If the person checks out on a landline then I would probably be more comfortable.

If he wants to collect in person, why not refund the PayPal payment, and collect cash?0

Get him to sign a piece of paper saying "I confirm I have picked up the phone. Signed Joe Shmoe".illegitimi non carborundum0

I'd also agree with the cash (note cash....and not cheque) on pick up. Looking at the situation you have outlined....this is the only way that you can 100% guarantee that you will get the money and be able to keep it. With mobile phones it not worth the risk for a unconfirmed address.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
