Thanks for setting up this new thread. My October started yesterday and I'm aiming for £50 per week. September went totally pear-shaped, I'm afraid, but I'm determined to do better this month! Yesterday was my first-ever NSD and I'm feeling very proud of myself. I've spent £4 in ASDA today for cold medicine and Vitamin C as I've a sore throat and feel pretty rough. I was going to menu plan and shop today but I can manage on what's in the house for a couple of days so am putting that off till I'm feeling better. It'd be too easy to buy rubbish in an effort to comfort myself at the moment.
Good luck everyoneHousehold: Laura + William-cat

I knew we'd need bread yesterday, so I bought it last night with DD as DH was working VERY late. When he arrived home, he'd also bought some!! So we ended up having 2 loaves to work with. Oh well, I had just made some space in freezer, so I froze 2 days worth of lunches (5 slices per sambo bag - 2 for DH, 2 for me, and 1 for DD) and we'll probably use the rest of it up during the week. If not, I am out of breadcrumbs, so will freeze some as crumbs at end of the week. (Luckily, I am working on a calendar month budget system!).
I have worked up a menu plan for the next 3 weeks (and it helps that we'll be staying with IL's one weekend). But I won't need to do a BIG shop until 17th - when I will need to buy a sack of potatoes and a good lot of meat. Avoiding temptation for a few weeks (apart from farmer's market near IL's) will be good though.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

... I think with a budget that's too tight you will be miserable and probably fail but set a sensible taget and you can't help but succeed.
Very wise words Jackie :T
I shared a small sainsbugs delivery with a rellie yesterday and now have enough f&v and milk for nearly 2 weeks; NSDs are easy when you live miles from any useful shops  though we have a very good butcher in the village.
Still using up my cupboard and freezer stocks in prep for a possible house move so today I'm making vegetable soup with some lamb stock that was loitering at the bottom of the freezer.
good luck everyone... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hello grocery gang.
Only 3 pages to catch up with this time, so not too bad for me. Good luck to all the newbies, well done to all who have succeeded so far and wish me luck as I now have only about £50 per month until next year if I'm to succeed on my own annual budget.
So - I need a few ideas for what to do with duck eggs. I've already compiled a list of 100 things to do with eggs but does 1 duck egg equal 2 hen eggs or 1.5 hen eggs? Don't worry, it isn't an extravagant purchase, my ducks decided to start laying yesterday. I have 2 eggs, one a double yoker. I want to bake sponges but am not sure how many eggs to count my two as when one is a double yoker.
Edited in - after a little research, I have decided that 3 of my medium hen eggs is equal to 2 duck eggs. Problem solved.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
