  • Evening all.

Have taxed my car and spent not much money on a couple of good cookery books in Smiths, a Good Housekeeping one with over 1000 recipes and a couple of others all with recipes i can manage! Am building up quite a variety now.

Have done a small shop in Asda to tide dh over as i got some horrid shifts this week

    loaf £1.10
    Choc digestives £1.23 (i know, i know!)
    milk £2.25
    Tipp ex £1.50
    A4 Envelopes £1.26
    SP cooked ham £1.64
    SP cheese £2.00

    TOTAL £10.98

Also stocked up on nappies and one tub of formula. Dont count these as i buy them when on offer (apart from formula) and have tons but am working on stocking the next size up. Formula wise we only on one bottle in a morning and one at night which is a Good Night milk so again just top that up as and when and dont count it in my shopping as i rarely have to get it now.

Will update my signature in a mo

Long 12 hr shift tommorow so definately nsd and dont really need anything else.

Have prepared all the veg and liver for hubby to just put in the slowcooker tommorow for a kind of liver and onion casserole.

    Happy none shopping!

Sounds like it's all change in your household this next month - so I'd personally say

    1. don't panic
    and
    2. don't go burying your head

The first 'cos you know you manage without going silly, even if you do end up more spending a tad more than you'd planned while you all adjust ;)
The second 'cos if you do then you'll totally lose track of your spends

Well good evening everyone, and thank you to all who get this thread up and running, you are all superstars :A.

I've done two big shops already as my month runs 22-21st. My Dad is staying with us at the moment (he lives in Cyprus) so bigger meals needed in the evenings. He goes back on 8th, so I've meal planned up until then. DD is 8 on Thursday and in an attempt to give her a birthday treat for very little money, we've invited 6 of her pals over on Saturday for nails/make up, karaoke, movietime and a sleepover . Birthday tea-wise I've made a list of things to buy from Iceland which will come out of a different budget. Hoping to do it for £20 or less. Then it's just party bags to sort out.

On a grocery front, I've got lots in and am having a couple of pals round for coffee in the morning for which I will make Nigellas lemon syrup loaf cake nommy.

Absolutely no whoopsies in MrT this morning to have a look at. Either I timed it completely wrong or they've wisened up to what sells and what doesn't (new store only opened in May 09). Did managed to get some frozen salmon burgers (MrT own brand) for £1 which are RTC as they are a BBQ item. Haven't tried them yet, but as I start at SWorld again on Wednesday I figured they would come in handy for a red day.

Good luck for October to all who post. Off to update sig.

    Hi all,
Well started my October budget today and bought some treats stuff as well as more milk  thats 28 pints alone grrr

Well had cottage pie for tea had enough of the mix left over to make another maybe two meals (8 portions) if i'm lucky.OH came home for lunch so ended up using the last of the eggs, beans and sausages. So have to buy more eggs now .

Anyway went to Mr M's for milk/bread and ended up buying stuff :o

Bagels (new york four pack) x 2 at 9p each
    ice buns (for boys) 19p
    Milk 2L 2 for £2.50
    boursin cheese x 2 at 9p each
    burger buns (6 pack) 29p
cheese tear and share bread 50p (reduced from £1.50)
Tiger bread £1.10 - i need a recipe for this badly.

So going to freeze the bagels individually and use them throughout the month and froze one of the boursin for later on in the month. So in all spent £4.94 so far but i least got some nice cheese!

    Good luck all!
