Access to HE Nursing and Midwifery.
The Access to HE Diploma is an alternative route into Higher Education for mature learners.
From September 2008 the qualification will become an Access to HE Diploma consisting of standardised, regional, core and optional units.
An access course is a level 3.

not "just only" a level 3 qualification.
don't think you should underestimate how hard you have to work for that level 3 when you have not studied for a while.0 -

I went to Uni when I was 35 and started the midwifery degree. I'm now a fully qualified, grown up midwife and I love it :j.
The course is VERY hard work. The degree is three years and midwives do a much longer degree than the other students so your summer holiday is only 3 weeks instead of the 8 that the others get etc. It is split into 50% academic work which gets more intense each year (obviously) as they work you up to level 3 learning but they provide ENORMOUS support to help you achieve the standards. The other 50% is practice where you work in hospital alongside a mentor. Luck of the draw whether your mentor is good or not apparently (I got a great one!) and generally, you have to shadow her shifts, so when she works nights, so would you.
My kids were 7 and 8 when I started and are now very proud of me. I think it's wonderful to show them how hard you can work when you want something badly enough. Certainly i allow them no excuses about not doing their own homework when i was at the same homework table trying to write a 6000 word essay!!!!
Honestly, Go For It - you'll never look back and you'll meet some amazing people along the way. To top it all, you get to be a midwife which (most days) is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world.

You had me worried there for a minute! Yes, of course it's level 3 and not HE.0 -
