    Hi
    Screwfix sell Leyland.
I have found that cheaper paints do not cover as well.
It always seems to work better if you let it down a bit with water.

I like Dulux, always get a good finish & good choice of colurs. I prefer a matt paint but vinyl may be better if you've got children. Hate Crown paint, I have never achieved a decent result with it. My favourite has to be Fired Earth paint, which gives a beautiful very matt surface, but expensive so tend to buy only in the sales. It does smell a bit strange too, but worth the results.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by chemical. F&B use natural pigments in many of their paints, rather than a colour produced in a laboratory/factory.

Agreed (although traditional pigments do not necessarily mean natural) and sometimes its nice to pay for a little luxury. I have the whole house to paint and so have chosen budget options.

The retail & own brand products were manufactured in batches totally separate from their premium paint.

Was it the same 'man' who also recommended you use Dulux Supermatt?

    Yeah why you met him?

I use B and Q's low odour matt paint. Just painted lounge hall stair and landing and it really covers well and there is very little smell. Just what we need to use as my DD and DH both have asthma. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone. Do Leyland paints have a colour chart or do you take along an example of the colour you want?
    Thanks.

They do have colour charts, but the shop has the more extensive list as there are hundreds of colours. At my local paint shop I just took in a picture from a magazine and they used a special camera that analysed what colour on the layland chart it was. The camera gadget was not spot on but it took us to the right part of the chart where I chose a match. If you see a colour you like on a different brand chart you can just take that and try to match it up. ;)

The biggest advantage of getting the paint mixed is that the colour you want is the colour you get. I've used ready mixes and the colour on my wall has look significantly different from the colour chart.
