When I saw this I thought to myself there must be a new Graham_Devon in town. One who doesn't argue the toss on every single thing.
Then I saw this....Graham_Devon wrote: »http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=24075885&postcount=2

2 different posts really. Linked up too show to date and what they were referring to.
Quotes here for ease of reading:
and thought to myself, "ah no, same ol' Graham".... but then was even more amused to see him revert back to his original reply....Graham_Devon wrote: »....and don't see why I should spend my time searching for something to prove solely to you I said something....
All in all, quite a pickle.
Oh, and no, I havent read any of the links on either side. I'm just amused by Graham's latest battle

Is the scrappage scheme a form of state subsidy? Is it fair competition in terms of European rules? I don't really understand it tbh.
Sort of connected to how the government throws money around. Anyone remember Farepak? Apparently, even when times were booming, the government couldn't find a few million to compensate some of the lowest earning people in the country saving for their children's Xmas's. Probably around the time they scrapped the 10p tax band too.
There's something a bit sick about giving people a bit off money off a brand new car, when let's face it, a lot of people are suffering.0 -

also money off for scrapping a (potentially) fine and functioning vehicle as they have to have a current MOT.Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -

I dislike the terms the news uses. From the BBC:
So far 227,750 orders have been placed through the scheme - which at a cost to the government of £1,000 per car means £227m has been spent.
Cost to the government? It is taxpayers money and should be called such.0 -
the germans , italians , french and japanese must be wetting themselves for us keeping their car workers in jobs0

Get a grip. Discuss stuff but seriously knock the nostradamus on the head you are tying your self in knots on this one.
Like I said I remember the treads at the time and no one said it would be extended when it first got revealed. Most bears like you were predicting it to fail (like chucky's link, you were predicting that.)
So on the discussion, you though and still think it is a success then?
Good to see you back Really2. How was the break?0 -
Where is the real long term benefit in this scheme???.If they were building new village halls, city centre community centres, real building projects etc etc etc I can see long term beneift.
All we will get from this is more people getting themselves deeper and deeper into debt.I wonder how many people using the sceappage scheme are getting finance??? I bet there aren't many paying cash.
I for one am p1ssed off at the thought ive contributed to some numptys new car........
Why do we as a nation go around Europe helping out everyone else(car manufacturers) and yet seem intent on killing off our own industries.
I really am beginning to think our governement have been infiltrated by foreigners......(No, I don't class the Scots as foreign...lol)0 -

Good thanks, how are you bud.
Think with the break I am going to try and keep my posting down.
Nice not to think of the economy or anything for a week. I think I get a bit to bogged down with this stuff, God knows how the "bears" survive.0 -

Yeah, good to give the economy a break now and then, without genetic resequencing it's not possible to turn a bear into a bull.
The site's addictive. I login to find out what friends are upto and yet somehow become drawn into debates.0
