anyone reccommend a spanish resort close to the airport

but whenever we go we have always ended up spending a fortune on taxis-return before weve got to the destination ie alicante to benidorm

anyone tell me any nice beach places close to airports in spain

and secondly any fair priced apartments etc

any info would be great

  • What about Alicante itself? The town is usually by-passed by British tourists but it has a great beach, lively bar & restaurant scene and isn't spoilt like many places.

Otherwise there are plenty of places along the coast from Malaga which can be reached by train from the airport so saving on taxi fares.
  • Try Murcia. The airport is right on the coast and within a 5 min taxi ride you can be in Los Alcazares etc. where you will find plenty of self-catering accommodation (via Owners Direct etc.) and you can walk to the beach in under 10 mins and there are lots of bars/shops/restaurants close by. Although there are more English than there were a few years ago, the area still has quite traditional Spanish feel to it (and is nowhere near as built up as Benidorm or the Malaga area). The beaches are also brilliant as it is on Mar Menor which is an inlet with very warm and shallow water, so great for kids.

    Have a nice day :)

Salou is quite close to Reus airport which Ryanair flies into and there are buses if you don't want to get a taxi.

Majorca - Palma Nova is only a short taxi ride away 15/20mins tops. Quieter resort but Magaluf is within walking distance for nightlife if you want it. Great beach, flat promenade with new playareas for young children.

Valencia has everything. Great city and a huge beach.
  • Malaga, 20 euros taxi fare into torremolinos or carihuela, i prefer carihuela though, can also give you email address of someone who rents his apartments at the Carihuela palace apartments.

malaga is probably the best aiport for you. It's within easy reach of lots of resorts. Malaga itself is actually a great place to stay. It's one of my favourite places in southern spain and great for shopping too! you can travel by train from the airport station to benalmadina, torremolinos and fuengirola. Fuengirola is a good base for exploring other parts of this region as it has a train station and bus station.

If you fancy travelling a little further - and to somewhere a bit more upmarket - you can take a coach from malaga airport to marbella. Marbella has a big bus station and you can travel to loads of destinations from here. All of the resorts i've mentioned are great for children. HTH :)

You can also take a bus from the airport to salou. I can't remember the exact fare, but it was really cheap and only takes about 20-30 minutes. However, I wouldn't recommend salou. You either love it or hate it. It all depends what you are looking for though. Barcelona on the other hand is amazing. It's best to go on a guided tour though as there is so much to see. The first time we went we didn't see that much. So the last time we went on a guided tour and it was worth every penny. I fell in love with guell park :)
