Erm, buy two new laptops, get them to send it back and sell it on eBay for spares or repair?

    Only a suggestion mind.

Depends on the laptop doesnt it? If your laptop costs £2500 new then a £500 repair job may make more sense than having 2 laptops at the £270 price mark

If it was out of warranty you'd be better off at a local computer shop where firstly they would be way cheaper, but more importantly you could go back and pummel their faces if they swindled you. :p

How long have you had the laptop? If it's not long out of warrenty it's worth complaining to Dell and trying to get a free repair (quote the Sale of Goods act)

What's wrong with it? Battery won't charge? Amber/green flashing light?

Mine was 8 days old when I reported the problem and they refused to replace it. Taken in over 10 days ago for a new motherboard but not a word since!

After a bit of research I've found this is a very common problem so I would kick up a serious fuss if I were you!

So lets me get this straight the Laptop is 6mths old from new?

If so Dell cannot charge in my estimation under the 1 years manufacturers warranty.

    But then again.

Lets just look at the sanity of buying from "Dell computers",you are dealing with a large online company, there is no local outlet to take it back to and there is no counter top to thump when you have a legitamate problem. I have read quite a few negetive comments about DELL, my daughter has one of their Inspiron laptops (so far so good) but I was not impressed with the buying process.
