Capquest/Voda issue
I recicved a letter from Capquest demanding the sum of £852 for an outstanding Voda debt.
I was made redundant from EON back in Feburary and have been claiming JS Allowence ever since. (£120 per fortnight)
Upon recieving the letter I automatically rang Capquest to try and negogiate a sum for me to pay back every 2 weeks. They said £30 would be the lowest they would accept.
This seems way too much for how much money I'm currently recieving?
Help!

You need to post in here Debt-Free Wannabe
Some advice before posting their thou.
The debt maybe unenforceable so i would check it up first.
Vodafone should have contacted you regarding this before handing it over to a DCA (Debt collection agency). I would speak to Vodafone over the issue, and if necessary place it in dispute. As a DCA will add on their on charges.
Some DCAs buy up old debts in the hope to turn a profit. Do you know when you had this debt from Vodafone, if over 6 years old then it is statued barred and should not be payable.
Its best not to admit to owing any debt until you can confirm it with the original creditor (Vodafone), although this is now to late. Do not worry.
Communication with a DCA should be in writing rather than over the phone so there is a record of conversations. Also reduces DCA from pressuring you to agree. Any communication with vodafone of agreements/payment should be in writing aswell.
People in the debt forum can give you better advice than me.
When posting in the debt forum, in your new post provide a link back to this topic, such as.

I was under the impression that they need to inform you that there is a debt/problem before just passing it on. They don't have to tell you they passed it on, but should make you aware there is a problem before doing so?Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
