Sorry I misread, I though that they had paid £12.99 for an item worth £50.
If the seller says that they posted the item (and I do not see / know of any reason to doubt them), then it is Royal Mail's responsibility, and they should compensate the purchaser.
I certainly did not intend to promote dishonest behaviour.0 -

I was lead to believe that it was the sellers responsibility to ensure that goods are delivered...0
