  • Oh dear,

I'd like to join in please. I've done this in the past but fallen off big time over the last six months or so, due to work/kiddies etc. My house/garden is a bombsite and I feel really down about it.

No time like the present, am off to spend 10 minutes in the living room before cocoa and bed.

Looking forward to getting to know you all again.

just to say the new job flyladies were in my thoughts (as I drive to work usually) so Greenbee and Quillion good/nice/luctrative job vibes winging your way...

Have just prepped a soup for the SC from the chicken carcass, all veg etc in fridge and shal assemble and switch on tomorrow. This is flying - I am 'winging it' with this one as I am not sure if it will work! House will smell good unless it burns LOL

    see you tomorrow night!

    Hello.....
Well, we lost the power again today, so there wasn't much doing again. Frustrating as they didn't tell us it was going off today. Good job I'm not bottle feeding the baby, else I'd have a bit more to say I think....and we had the boiler engineer in doing the boiler service. He's got to come back on Friday to finish the safety check . He's recommended we get a new one (ours is over 30 years old!) as he found some parts had sooted up. We have budgeted for a new one, so it's not so bad really.

Anyway, I did a bit of dusting, tidying, mopping and more tidying. Basically, anything I could do without electricity....oh, and entertained my sister and her son!

Tomorrow, I shall be trying the following:

    Wednesday~ Master bedroom and landing
    Level One
    Declutter floors
Strip and wash bedding.. remake bed before you need to get in it! Air bed and duvet!
    Level Two
    Vacuum floor
    Put away floordrobe
Tidy away the excess slap, smellies and shoes!
    Level Three
Sort through a box of stuff or a cupboard/chest of drawers
    Dust and Deweb
    Straighten a few shelves
    Extras
    1. wash windows
    2. wash curtains/nets if needed
    3. wipe paintwork and doors
    4. Check smoke alarms!
....but I won't get too stressed if I don't manage more than a couple of things.

I hope everyone is going OK, hugs to those who need them.

    I'm off to bed....
    Night!
    D
    xx

I love Danish pastries! Is the dough easy to make and successful?

Yes - it's dead easy (but a slight cheat). I use the recipe from Nigella Lawson's Domestic Goddess book: it's 'food processor Danish'! You bung the dry ingredients in the food processor, plus the butter in large blobs; process briefly; turn into a bowl and mix with the wet stuff; then leave it for a day (or up to 4!) before rolling it out. There's a bit of re-rolling and folding, like puff pastry, but it's not scary at all.

I find that - the longer you leave the dough - the firmer it gets for rolling (which is good, as it starts off looking rather spookily sloppy...). I'm probably going to roll mine out tomorrow, but it's useful not to have to do it until Saturday, if needs be...

If you don't have this book then you'll find the recipe at a number of websites on-line, including this one (though most are converted to 'cups' for the Americans):

    http://kissmyartichoke.wordpress.com/2009/01/15/processor-danish-pastry/

I fill individual pastries with pear halves and a little marzipan; or make a large pastry plait. But apricot jam or ricotta cheese are good, too...

Hugs and healing vibes to all who need them, sorry but I've only had chance to skim read the thread. DH is off work with a broken finger and today he has put his back out!!!
Trying to get some flying done tomorrow aswell as work, school runs, DS has a friend round after school and all the other daily stuff. Feeling very down and tired as I can't sleep at the mo. Going to try to get back on here daily even if its just to post a list as my house is losing the will to stay standing.

I've got a sore throat and a snotty nose. Why do I always get ill when I have some holiday?
    Because you have time :D

I've just done my tax return online, and can't understand why it says I owe them money when all I've filled in is
    • lots of charity donations (they owe me the higher rate element)
    • mileage claims (difference between what I'm paid and what's allowed... you get tax back on the difference)
    • pension contributions (they owe me the higher rate element)
    • savings interest (only a few quid... I haven't saved much outside my ISAs)
    • dividends on shares (well we all know how well shares did this year!)
I think I'd better check it all again tomorrow...

So I've stayed up far later than planned, which isn't good given that it's an early start tomorrow.

Must go and load the DW, make my salad, put the first batch of stock in the fridge and turn the carcass in the SC onto low for the rest of the night! Not much flying achieved here, but I'm trying to make sure I don't undo last week's good work!
