Hi
I would like to get ADSL broadband into my house but have a query that someone may be able to answer.
I have a BT business line running into my house (I do not have a residential line at all, and don't want to pay for an additional one). My question is this :
Do I have to get a BT business broadband package or can i use any internet service provider I like. BT will only install one of their business packages on my line (because its a business phone line).
Any pointers would be great.

if you are not in contract could you not transfer your line .and take internet service, with an alternative business supplier?

You can use an ISP of your choice, same as you can on a residential line.0

Unfortunately want to keep the same number. BT won't let me downgrade it to a residential line without changing the number (I've had the same number for over 30 years now) and if I change supplier they can't guarantee that i'll keep the same number either.

Thanks for the input. Do you know anyone that has done this? Or do you have something you could point me at?
Thanks for the replies.0 -
If it's for personal use, residential is fine - if it is for business use, should check with the ISP as most won't allow a residential product to be used for business purposes (and thus you cannot say to them that your business is suffering if broadband cuts out for some reason...)0
