Applemac delivered to the wrong address Help

Options
Hi I posted a while back looking at purchasing an apple mac laptop. I purchased it on 8th September and I originally had my old address in Manchester, but I changed that to my new one Birmingham on the 10th September. I rang up twice to confirm that they had changed the address to the new one which they confirmed that they had

My laptop arrived on the 25th September at the old address. My ex flatmate signed for the laptop and its in my old flat.

I rang up apple and they refunded me £50 in order to cover cost to get hold of the laptop. My flatmate works 9-5 and I doubt she will be able to take it to the post office at her lunch hour.

I am really annoyed at apple to say the least especailly as it was so much money that I have spent on this laptop.

Is it possible to get a courrier to collect it? I have no idea of the weight of the parcel just that its packaged. Would it be managable to carry if I travelled to Manchester to collect it by hand?

Thanks

It's a laptop. It's designed to be portable.

It's packaged in a box about the size of 2 briefcases sandwiched together. Apart from the laptop and charger all of the other packaging is polystyrene.

    I'm sure you'd manage.

  • Im very petite and I dont do well with carrying things.......Plus I dont fancy a 5hr round trip door to door to collect it when they fu**ed up.

If £50 will cover the costs of a courrier I would prefer to do that..

The £50 would more than cover Royal Mail Special Delivery - with additional insurance, although as you say, your old flatmate would have to take it to the post office. I doubt you would get a courier to collect it and deliver to you for £50 if you don't have a contract with one already - and even if you could, someone would have to wait in for them to collect.

You are clearly not one of them.

Could always make a day of it, visit your friend , have lunch, a nice chat, and then bring it home. That is unless your ex flatmate is your ex ..... then might a courier might be better

  • Davb I have a concierge service at my old building and have his mobile number he normally signs for delivaries etc.. Maybe if I could get apple to give me details of what the product weighs I can see if I could get a quotation for under £50 and arrange that.

Otherwise I think I would have to wait for Saturday Morning for my flatmate to take it to the post office to get delivered.

Is there a Staples your flat mate could get to? They are a drop off point for DHL (at least my local one is) and are open till 8pm, so perhaps you could use them instead?

    here you go. http://www.dhl.co.uk/publish/gb/en/services/retail_services.high.html

And it'll come in at well under £50 for a tracked signed for service. Use the service locator to put your friends postcode in, and it will tell her the nearest drop off point.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

    Try Interparcel (a courier broker).

Their site's down for routine maintenance at the moment, but (from memory) a 48 hour door-to-door service (usually with DHL or UPS) with £750 of insurance should cost you around £25, and they'll collect from whatever address you specify.

A 24 hour service will probably be around a fiver more.

Elsien your a star our flat was in the city centre and theres a Staples in the city centre thats open to 7pm. The website says latest drop off point is 2.45pm so does that mean that you have to send it by then every day?
