Hi everyone I hope you can help me with this because its driving me mad
My printer has been working fine and all of a sudden I cant print
Keep getting this message
Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
then it says i dont have a printer installed... I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer, I tried system restore and the microsoft fix on their website but its still doing it
Does anyone have any idea? could it be a virus doing this?
thanks

Its still not working... is there anything else i can try?0

go to
start>then Control Panel>administrative Tools>Services>scroll down to print spooler>right click it>click properties>make sure you are on the general tab>go down to startup type and make sure its on automatic (if not then change it , click apply , then change it back) >then hit apply>then click the start button under the service status>apply again>hit OK.
now exit all of the services and administrative tools and go to where your printer and faxes are located and now try to install a printer or try to print.Ex forum ambassador

Sounds like an underlying problem that ought to be fixed (worth doing the usual virus checks etc).
If the other suggestions don't work, as a quick workaround, though, this might help (you haven't mentioned which version of windows you're using and some versions might have a slightly different layout)
- Start, settings, printers.
Right-click your printer and choose properties. Go to the 'advanced' tab and select 'print directly to the printer'. Click OK.0 -
I tried what you said browntoa and it still dont work
There are no printers in the printer section now so I have tried to reinstall my printer and its detecting it but then saying hpoc4403.gpd on PDL_COMMON is needed.
Now im totally confused!0 -
That means the software is looking for a file on your computer called hpoc4403.gpd but it can't find it.
I've had a quick google for the problem, and have found some similar ones. One suggestion was to try going to the HP website (I gather it's an HP printer?) and download the drivers from there.
Then completely uninstall your printer, and try installing the driver you downloaded.
Good luck.0 -

When your PC complains it can't find hpoc4403.gpd, does it offer a 'search' or 'browse' option?0

yes it does... but I dont know where it could be? and i cant find one to download online0

Have you installed anything recently which could have caused a conflict.
You could try doing a system restore to a point when the printer was working correctly. Wouldn't be my first choice, but you seem to be running out of options.0
