Best Broadband Without Limit

I'm looking for a fast, reliable broadband connection that will allow me to download to my heart's content. A 30Gb/month 'fair usage' policy should be alright for this.

I have a contract with O2 mobile at the moment so their internet deal looks pretty tasty. I'm only going to be in the apartment for 9 months, but as the first 3 months of their year long contract is free it doesn't bother me. However, the reviews have been a bit worrying - apparently the service disconnects all the time.

If anyone knows of a deal that beats this then I'd appreciate it if you could share.

  • Yes, it's terrible, don't go with it, especially if you want to hammer it downloading to your hearts content..

Beunlimited - will price match O2 - as they are part of the same group.

No throttling, no limits and very very rare downtime.

Plus they allow contracts less than a year

    There are 2 services:

O2 access - this is just a BT internet connection not very good

O2 LLU - this is connected to O2's hardware and is very good

check if your exchange can get the LLU service:

@del1001 - I hammer it all the time and have no problems

and as socrates says Be are the same group and have less than 12 month contracts - however you won't get a discount for having an o2 phone and their quidco offers might be different

You will not get Quidco but they DO price match O2

You can get £40 money back from Quidco for BE. I did not find it straight away as it's under BETHERE, rather than BE.

  • So I asked the landlord, turns out we have a BT line but it's not been activated. After calling them and being put on hold for 10 minutes, they said we'd need to pay the £122.50 'reconnection fee' plus 12 months line rental. Christ on a bike, I don't see how they get away with charging that.

So unless I can get a work around, it looks like Beunlimited is out of the picture :(

I think we DO have an activated Virgin line, but their prices look a bit crappy. Any advice please?

You can get Free BT line activation, however contract is 18 months and you must make 10 calls a month (or 30 a quarter) through BT otherwise you will face a monthly surcharge.

    Details are here:

End date has been extended to 31/12/09
  • Thanks for the link, I should probably have mentioned I'm only going to be there for 9 months, possibly 12, so anything longer than that isn't feasible for us.

Even if you are there for 9 months you can move the contract with you to the next place, mind you if the next place has no active line you will have to pay £122, however if it has an active line you should be able to move free. Condition 5 "Customers moving home and retaining an account with BT can take the remaining minimum term of their chosen calling plan with them."

Also the termination charge would be 9x£7.50 after 9 months, which would be cheaper than £122.
