    Debt-free and Proud!
Ive just wrote a bloody huge reply to this post and the board logged me out after I pressed submit:mad: so this is going to be the shortened version as Im meant to be at work.

First - thanks for all the well wishes, it was lovely to think as I was leaving the house on Saturday evening that I had so many people routing for me. Its just a shame the evening didnt go as planned. Im sorry I havent replied sooner, but Im so fed up I just couldnt face posting yesterday.

Basically I worked my butt off for over 3 hrs for nothing, no payment, no share of the tips and more importantly no job :(

I was told I was meant to be there for 1 1/2 hrs to see what they did, just to watch them at work. However I cleaned tables, I took orders, I delivered food, I made up desserts, I cleanied cuttlery and I collected payments and after three hours of VERY hard graft whilst other members of the so called team did very little I was told she would 'call me', I didnt get as much as a free drink!

There were no set rules as to who you served, you were not given a table or a group of people to look after throughout their meal you just helped out all over. Which meant it was very easy for people to stand around and do nothing whilst others did jack! Now Ive worked in a customer service environment for over 10 years and I pride myself in how I treat people, I treat them the same way i would like to be treated - oh no not here!

She did say that if I wasnt successful that there was a kitchen hands job going that i could trial for - no doubt she's looking for another free saturday nights labour!

Maybe Im been unreasonable, I dont know. I know I NEED another job as Im totally broke right now, but I KNOW I will work my butt off there just because the rest of the perm staff are lazy and for £5 an hour I dont see why I should. I still have two other posts that Im waiting for a responce from - fingers crossed!

There were other things that happened but I need to go back to work - sorry.

So Im really sorry that your well wishes were wasted on me.

    Hugs

That's really bad form, but you will be snapped up by someone that appreciates your hard work and your attitude. Don't let it ruin your day oe week because it's their loss not yours.

    Hi Pixie
I have just read your thread and can't believe how badly you were treated during your trial. When I turned 18 I worked in a restaurant and it was fantastic, so please don't think that every waitressing job will be like that.
Don't give up the fight, put it down to experience and keep looking for that 2nd job.
Perhaps you could contact the owners of the restaurant and tell them what happened. If it was a big chain then they may offer you something in return for your hard work.

    Good luck

Hi Pixie - sorry to hear that!! It definately sounds as though they are taking the p***!! Think yourself lucky (in a way), as would you really want to work for a place like that anyway?

As I have said before www.thegumtree.com have an excellent section for part time/evening/weekend work.

Are you looking for evenings? Or are you happy to work on a Sat? Not sure what experience you have, but Estate Agents pay well and it seems a lot of them having been advertising recently. I sent about 20 CV's out to the local agents, which is how I found my sat job - perhaps do the same to the bars/restaurants in the area. You WILL find something - it is frustrating though as you need to find something that fits in with your main job, which isnt always easy.

Best of luck. You can find something BIGGER & BETTER!! xx
