  • It looks like FD are also efficient at organising the ISA transfer to them. I noticed this morning that my ISA balance had 'disappeared' from my Natwest balances - it was there yesterday, so am assuming that it is on its way over. About a week to do that.
Really impressed with the service so far.

That's good to know as mine will be transferring from NatWest also.

Excellent, thanks for letting us know.
I was expecting 3-4 weeks and for Natwest to be very busy.

I was expecting 3-4 weeks too, that's why I instigated the transfer now! Perhaps I got in just before the rush starts, as it must be about now that the bonus rates start running out on the Natwest ISA's taken last year.

I transfer between First Direct and Nat west regularly and the transfers happen instantly not 3 or 4 days.

I've just completed the first stage of the FD application online and will await paperwork. I class myself as a non-FD customer as I haven't used a current account I had with them for well over ten years.

For the ISA application, I didn't see why I should provide them with phone and other details of my employment. It has no relevance to the account itself and so chose "other" as my employment status (actually I'm an agency worker in a long term position) and put "irrelevant" in the description. Are they likely to be "picky" about this?
  • I can't remember the date I applied for the FD e-ISA, but the letter I got with it is dated 29th September and it came either Friday or Saturday.

Just to check: do I ask for the transfer pack and put the amount I want to transfer from my current ISA in the lump sum box, or just ask for the transfer pack when I return the form?

Also I assume 'main account' on the application form means current account?

From memory, there's a box on the form which you have to tick to request the transfer form.

Just put the approximate last known balance of your current ISA funds into the box now and, when the transfer form arrives, write 'full balance' in any similar box on that form (assuming that you wish to transfer the whole amount).
