Sorry you are having all this mess - it's really awful when you have these things within families. Unfortunately it isn't that rare - where there's money you'll always get some trying to get more than their fair share.
When these things happen it tears a family apart, causing unhealable rifts - usually. But sometimes 'families' aren't the happy healthy things that are portrayed in the media.
Hope all goes well & smoothly from now on.

So total estate is 400k, should have been split 4 ways. So they are offering you 75% ie 75k?

Your siblings know they are in the wrong, otherwise they would have offered 0. I would speak to them and ask for an equal share.

If this didn't happen, i would make them sweat for a few days, ACCEPT the 75k and have nothing to with them again.

On a side note, i think what you all did is pretty bad. It stinks of deivious behaviour from all round.

Father lives with siblings - he is badgered to change will.

Anybody ever think of the father as a father and not a cash cow?

Anybody else want to comment? I want to steer this away from Ivrytwr3's opinion so this thread doesn't become about his/her comments!

Has their offer been made via solicitor in a "without prejudice" letter? Or are they acting on their own behalf?

Personally, I would hold out for your quarter-share - plus, of course, the legal expenses you have incurred - but take your solicitor''s advice.

Thorsak - my solicitor received a telephone call from my siblings solicitors - so it was done over the phone really.

I don't know what to expect next really?

In that case, definately make it plain that you will see them in court for anything less than 100%.

I suspect it is a matter of who is going to blink first.

Awesome! You hear someone have a different opinion to you and you close down the shutters.

You posted on a forum for thoughts and ideas; you must realise that not everyone will agree with you. Don't get all defensive just because someone disagrees/offers a different perspective on your own thoughts.

Now, i don't know you or your family, or if you're telling us the whole truth. So my opinion stands:

    1. You're father was treated badly by your family and/maybe you.

    2. Tell the family you want your equal share. If this doesn't happen, take your 75% and sever ties.

Whatever you do, i hope it works out for all concerned.

As I say Iv.....this process is painful enough without you accusing me of treating my father who I adored wrongly!

I was there with him through all his pain and agony and just because there is a dispute over his actions when he was in his alcoholic amnesia - does not mean that my actions leave anything to be desired.

I cared and loved my father very deeply and no - I don't want your opinion as obviously you have clearly not read the ins and outs of the story and the history with my siblings so I suggest that your opinion is not of interest to me.

Carry on posting though if it is of interest to you and you feel like you are posting positive opinions in support. I am not interested in you wild "suggestions" which were and have never been an issue of the treatment of my father.
