Best laptop for £500?

I'd wait until the next Medion laptop arrives in Aldi. Best deal around; especially with the 3 years warranty, which is crucial for a laptop.0

Well both my current lappies are on their last leg but they've served me well, one for 6 years and the other for 3 years. Still going strong, but they have had a few minor problems. One is a Toshiba Equium, the other an HP Pavilion.
I quite like HP and I'm getting a new lappy soon, but I'm waiting for window 7 to be more widespread so 1) I can buy it easily without kerfuffle and 2) others will have been guinea piggies before...Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Really, I didn't pay for the main OS I use or any of the software I use on either windows of linux. And I have working computers from freecycle that were well ...free, hmmm.
Budget dont mean broke.
No but buying a tin of beans for 6p rather than 30p doesnt mean they taste the same.Kind Regards

Why would you expect that??? Does budget now mean broken?
When Dell charges less for a laptop, it's not because they're really generous and want to spread the love. It's because they've spent less time and money making it. The less time and money spend making it, the more likely it is that bits will start to fall off.
It's pretty difficult to make a decent laptop and then sell it for £299 and still make a profit.
Dell are just now finding this out:0 -

I didn't say dell were a charity, and I wasn't talking about the profits of companies.
I said budget doesn't mean broken (a completely separate issue from what you're talking about). Doesn't matter what you pay for a laptop, £1300 of £300.0
