account charges

Hi are you aware that if you pay your BT home phone bill by direct debit paperless billing using a credit card you still get charged £4.50 each quarter.BT doesnt inform you of this on their website as we have just discovered. To save £4.50 use your debit card instead.

    Actually, that's not the case. The £4.50 is for not paying by Direct Debit - so credit card, cheque, debit card or cash will not do.

    In fact, Martin himself issued a warning and started a thread about this in March 2007. The thread attracted a lot of interest and the last post (a year ago) was the 333rd!

    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
