  • If it's serious enough, you're probably best off communicating by (recorded) post.
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries
  • To be honest you're better off not trying to circumvent complaints procedures. Capital One's is here...

As ex-Cap One staff, I can confirm that is actually true. Not even the staff had an internal phone or e-mail address for them.

  • Same as Paul says, if it's important enough to complain about I'd always use recorded delivery - and if it's really important, registered (recorded only uses normal first class post and they may just sign in bulk, meaning there's no absolute proof that your letter was in the bundle - on the other hand, registered/special delivery will be there the next day and will be signed for individually).

If you think you can sort it out over the phone then do so, but a complaint should be put in writing if you want/expect something to be done.
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...

thanks for the replies folks. its a pretty minor issue which can be resolved over the phone which makes it frustrating that they wont discuss it verbally

oh well, time for another letter

    thanks again
  • capital one and complaints, well i have sent 2 recorded delivery letters to them but they simpply ignore them, they call my house 11 times a day 7 days a week, the account is my partners they are told he works till 6 and he has written to them 2x now saying please contact me by post concerning the debt, he has made offers and kept to them yet the calls wont stop - so dont expect them to answer a letter! am at the end of my tether with them and dont know what to do now, we are all in the same boat with money and have explained situation verbally and written, the other day i told them the calls were being recorded, which we have started to do, thinking this might put them off, she slammed the phone down then called bakc 5 mins later, obviously thinking it wouldnt record, we ignroe the phone now and had over he weekend unplugged it, plugged it back in today 7 messages from capital one, any suggestions on next course of action
  • Yes, capital one are a real pain these days. I missed a couple of payments which put me over my credit limit - resulting in more charges, and they phoned me about 10 times a day every day. Even when I thought I had caught up with payments they were still phoning me as apparently I still owed them £50. I just advised them that I had paid everything I could and that I would try and catch up when I got paid next. This has temporarily stopped the calls, but I expect they will start up again soon!

When I fell behind with payments a few years ago capital one always used to be really compassionate, but they are a lot more aggressive these days!

I have no problems with capital one. I keep my account in good order. I find thats the best way to avoid too many issues. And ive been lucky enough that they have never screwed up routine billing matters.
When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.
  • Capital One have been terrible to us.While travelling in previous years they have blocked our cards over 3 times in one week making them impossible to use and us stranded with not a lot of money!! Then when you try and contact them to sort it!!!! It cost us hundreds of pounds in calls chasing them up to unblock our cards and more often than not they hung up on us!!

In this country their late credit card payment fees have been ridiculous!!! My husband has always paid on time and recently for this month did not receive a statement! Therefore being a busy man,he missed a payment...and got charged £200 for it!!!!!! His credit card bill was also £700 which we question as he didnt have that much on it so we fear there were more fees within that...but we have no break down on this.Madness!!!!!
