Need to cancel a contract

Hi,
My boyfriend lost his job a while ago and though he found another quite quickly, it doesnt pay very well and in the time he was without a job DDs ot rejected, charges were incurred etc and now there are so many of those coming out each month that he doesnt have the money to pay the bills. (We're currently writing letters to the bank regarding these).
T-mobile at the time were constantly cutting off his outgoing calls due to late or unpaid bills and so he rang them a couple of months ago to ask if (-if he paid off what had built up so far-) there was any way he could cancel his contract. - Of course, the answer was no (well it was worth a try!) - They said he could transfer it to another person but we couldnt find anybody to take it - and so instead they cut him off completely and stacked up the charges. This morning he got a debt letter asking for £130 which he doesn't have for a phone he cannot use.
Does anybody know of any loopholes or ways we can sort this? I may be able to help with the £130 but the contract has about another year to go and i'm already supporting him quite a bit so can't afford the monthly payments as well
Help would be much appreciated - I'm running out of ideas!!

Not a lot you can do really. There aren't any "loopholes". You signed a contract. You need to deal with it.
At least discuss the situation with T-Mobile. Be honest, and be realistic with any offers. They may agree to suspend the contract for a short period of time. I'm not sure how likely this is, though.
In all honesty, it sounds like you're going to need to do some prioritising over the coming months. Rent, food, electricity and council tax you can't really !!!!!! them about. Mobile phones, TV finance packages etc etc, these can be put on hold. But at least talk to them to let them know they won't be recieving any money for x amont of time.0
