Getting a job......hard work!

I know many people say it, but I have applied over and over again for jobs all over central London, I am 16 and am in my first year of college. I curently go to Richmond Upoon Thames College, and dont mind getting a job around that area either. I always apply but they turn me down, it's not like I got a bad CV, I actually learnt how to produce one via experts and online websites, I even have previous experience backed up with 11GCSE's and an AS-LEVEl. So, it cant have anything to do with my education, then what is it? ?
Also, where can I get jobs easily, and especially for student friendly places, I havnt been to a job centre, but are they for students? ? ?
Thanks, ALL help appreciated,

Hi,
I remember trying to find jobs - am not currently in the position to be jobhunting due to illness but hopefully will be soon - the thing is with alot of them they want experience but you cant get experience cos everywhere wants experienced if you know what i mean! You cant win!
Yeah go to the jobcentre - its worth a try - have you also looked in the local papers and also at https://www.fish4jobs.co.uk ?Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
Whilst you are looking , have you thought about helping out in a charity shop (volunteer) just for a short while . Employers would see you were motivated to gain experience and you could be helping the community at the same time . Good Luck0

Yeah ill give charity shops a go. Won't mind helping out, will also look good in my CV. I know what you mean by experience, it'll be impossible to get a job wihtout experience really, gonna also give the job centre a try. Don't they charge you £20? however at the same time garuntee you a job?
Thanks for all the comments so far.

I don't know if times have changed
but when I was doing A Levels & at Uni me and most of my mates worked in supermarkets cause they did good shifts and you always ended up being offered more than your contracted hours... shops and cafes are always a good bet just for shift work, check out local papers or just poop into any supermarket and ask at the customer service desk. Tesco's used to be the best payer, who knows how it lies now!!! Personally I used to work 4-8 Thurs and 4-9 Fri (easy times to not mess with your life!!!) if you can wangle a Sunday you are quids in for extra money and late starts!!!!
I don't remember having a cv but who knows, the key is to come across as willing to learn, customer service focussed and RELIABLE and you can't lose!
one mate also worked in a nursing home if thats your thing!!!0 -
oops sorry I think I mighta got the wrong end of the stick, are you looking for a college cash earner job or a full time make me rich money earner?! Big apologies if its the latter, the intentions were good!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was 16 I tried looking for a job but most places turned me down.
In the end I got a job serving food / collecting glasses / etc at a local pub. Not great work, but the pay was okay.. Was getting the same wages as the bar staff serving drinks etc.0 -
I'm looking for a student type job, something that offers flexible hours. I had this job at my brothers takeaway, LOL, that was just saturdays, so, I stopped that as it was for long hours.
I tried the customer service way, they always say 'sorry nothing available' or 'give us your CV' but get no reply.
Me and my mates have also had a special day dedicated to finding job, thats how low we went, we went to high streets and gave our CV's, that day we applied for atleast 20 jobs each. They all either said nothing available or we'll let you know, even though they never.
Thanks for the comments, nice to hear them and I'll try the local papers.

Depending on where abouts you are in West London, it might be worth looking for a job at Heathrow. I'm the same age as you (but with no experience) and got a job at an airport near me.0

i live in central London but studying near heathrow area. I'de love to work there, my lecturers reccomended me a place there, How did you get a job there? and what do you work as? Is there a way of applying online?0

I'd agree with ginger, supermarkets are great places to work while being a student, the hours are great, they can be flexible and everyone is happy. I'm in my final yr at uni, and been working at Asda for 5 years now, only reason i am still there is coz every year i get a new timetable from uni and before that college, Asda would more than happily alter my hours to suit my lifestyle.Death smiles at us all, all a man can do is smile back.0
