lol..well in a cul de sack any milkman that isn't a lazy !!!!!! would just park in one spot and deliver all round..less hassle than scooting his van around a few metres..lol

as for milk being stolen! mad! [
we live on a busy london street and only once have we had a bottle smashed on the floor outside..the rest of the time it's always there..

I've just checked about home delivery in our area and it doesn't list any prices. Nor do they do organic milk. My local greengrocers is 79p for 2lts of milk, it's not organic either but I think it works out cheaper than the milk man.

So dilemma, do I try home delivery or steer well clear

do they have a contact number? ask for prices..
our local shop does 4 pints for 99p...but our milkman does 39p per pint organic so it's not much more..I also find I use less tipping from a glass pint, than from a big plastic bottle..no idea why!?

he also does the best natural yoghurt and i can't get it elsewhere..lol

Usual story here in Northern Ireland, not a lot of choice!! LOL

Will have a look and find contact details, it did say on the website though that prices were up to the individual franchisee.

We always buy our milk and potato's from our corner shop and carry it home. While we do our main shop in the supermarket. We try to buy some stuff from our local store it helps to keep it open.

You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.

Cor! Bargain, Starlite! I've been quoted 62p per pint organic. In true moneysaving style I asked if they were doing any introductory offers, she went off and checked with the manager and told me I could have my first week free.

    :j

PS yes, to reiterate, he already delivers right next door, so no extra emissions.

I've love to be able to buy my milk without going to the supermarket, but none of our local shops stock organic...

We've tried requesting it though, so you never know.

I'm really glad to have found this thread. I currently live in central London (and can't get a milkman to deliver to my "council" estate!! ) but am hoping to move out to the country (back to where I am originally from) later this year, and will be looking into a local milkman when we do.

I am totally for supporting small local businesses :T (like the milkman), although this thread also reminded me of when I was still at school (am 33 now!). My mum was always very much in support of local businesses (milk from milkman, collecting child benefit from Post Office rather than direct to bank, so that PO didn't close in small village, etc, etc), but she had to stop getting the milk from the milkman because by the time it was delivered in the early afternoon, the milk had already gone off...

Of course, it didn't help that the milkfloat could be seen parked outside the local pub from opening time in the morning for a couple of hours - in direct sunlight!!!:rotfl:

Still, that milkman has since retired and his replacement is quite expensive:o , but very prompt and reliable. I guess I must have inherited some of my mother's genes because I am looking forward to supporting him!:D

Does anyone know where I can donate glass milk bottle tops as I have collected loads in the last few weeks since I started receiving my milk deliveries and don't want them to go to waste.
My mantra is "Never pay full price!" ;)
