What a great idea. I used to love putting the milk bottles out as a child for my mum. I've called my local dairy and will start getting deliveries from tomorrow. Bye bye plastic bottles:T

we used to get our milk delivered i said the main reason was enviromental and to support local business but part of it was also the fact that i love fresh milk out of a glass bottle, somehow it always tasted better.

However we had so many problems with either late deliveries or no deliveries that in the end we had to stop.

Now we have moved i haven't even seen a milkman in our local area. However after reading this thread i will be seeing if we do have one and what their prices are, maybe we will have more luck this time.

There is a 'Dairies' section in your Thompson Local. Really pleased people are taking this on.
Had a free box of cereal with my milk this morning. Lovely!

Excellent. Our local shop collects the bottle tops for charity so everything gets recycled. Very green!:rotfl:

They don't deliver to my area:cry:

But then nobody does except Tesco - so I have have to live with them and their plastic bottles.
  • i cannot see the point of having milk delivered? its an extra vehicle on the road every day, when you could walk to the corner shop and buy it all delivered by one vehicle in one go. and most local shops round here sell it in glass bottles for a pint anyways, which you put back in the crate outside.

Ahh but not everyone will walk to their corner shop. So you have extra vehicles going out to get their milk. You may buy more than the bottle of milk you go in for. You may have to take children with you who may want you to buy more than the bottle of milk you have gone in for. Not all shops stock glass bottles.
