  • we had the seperate interview thing - lots of questions & most were fine but the registrar laughed when she asked me how long we had lived at our current address & I said uurrmm it's either two or three years around Easter - my partner had been in first & said exactly the same!!!

We only needed our passports & driving licences - not the whole folder of stuff (bills, car log books, bank statements etc etc) that I insisted we took with us - 'just in case!'

  • Whoopsie, although I am secretly giggling I really hope you are ok!

We didn't have many things with our names and addresses on so I rang up the NHS and got a copy of my medical card. It came in three days!! I also took my passport and OH took bills, passport and birth certificate. I went to the bank and got some printouts of my statements and they stamped them at the bank to prove they were real. The registrar was fine with those.

  • We are having a civil service and the fees are £220 + £60 for the notices (I think!). I have just been told to bring id, passports etc and didn't realise we might be having interviews.

Isn't it amazing what you find out on here? lol

Well when I rang today, I wasn't told about the questions asked seperately, I only know from what I'd picked up on the net lol

Maybe they don't tell you beforehand incase it is a dodgy marriage and you can practice what you are going to say beforehand?

i did something similar last night (not visit Reg office btw!). I was going into my local Cantonese (sp?) to pick up a takeaway. Parked up car outside and on approaching the restaurant noticed a group of fit young girly's inside. So into 'sexy man' mode, puffed out chest, put on a smile.

As i opened the restaurant door handle, still checking out the girly's i didn't realise there was a step up into the restaurant. :(

I didn't go a$$ over t!t, but i did fall into the restaurant, queue fits of giggles from said girly's :(

What was worse, was i was early for my meal, so i had to sit there for ten minutes waiting, all the time, the girly's pee'ing themselves whilst nudging each other and pointing at me.

You've hit the nail on the head, that's exactly why they don't tell you the questions beforehand! Incase someone is being forced into marriage or for immigration issues etc. Also that's why you have individual interviews, so it can be determined that your willing to undertake the marriage and that you know a bit about the person your marrying and it's not a stranger wanting to get a visa. They are pretty obvious questions that 99% of people will know of the top of their heads!

    Hope that helps.
  • We had our interview together and took passport and council tax/water bill with us. We were asked our names, addresses, DOB, occupation and our fathers' names and occupation so that it could all go on the certificate. Also we were asked to confirm each other's full names and DOB and that was it. We paid £30 each for the notice and the remaining £43.50 on the day.
