If I threaten to move bank accounts, will they give me the credit card I want.

The Air Miles card is two credit cards not one. That's why they call it Duo. You get an American Express card and a Mastercard (for use in places that don't take Amex). It stands to reason that they will have stricter criteria for letting someone have two cards than just one, as you have at the moment.0

Big thank you to whoever suggested going into my branch. The wealth of information the guy there was able to give me on my account, could not have been more of a stark contrast from the blunt "sorry you are not eligible" robots I talked to over the phone.
Turns out my risk factor was a little high but more importantly he was immediately able to offer me a tradeup to the airmiles credit card! So the applications I was putting in via online banking were obviously being counted as applications for a new credit card, rather than an application for a trade up on my existing credit card.
I'm definitely going to do everything via my branch in future. Thanks again.0
