RR de Acuña said the overhang of unsold properties on the market, or still being built, has reached 1,623,000 . This dwarfs annual demand of 218,000, and will take six or seven years to clear. The group said Spain's unemployment will peak at around 25pc, comparable to the worst chapter of the Great Depression.

Always thought it was a third world country. Who still has a 3 hour break over lunch because it gets a bit hot?
Never heard of Air Con surely?

More to the point. What exactly does UK produce these days? This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
Over the last few years their horse export has been increasing steadily. Andalucians command a heavy price, then there is all the ''special tack'' and equipment (quite strict etiquette). There are breeders in UK, but it more expensive to produce here, and often the kudos plus the spanish training mean people prefer to import. There are one or two British hauliers who have regular routes through Iberia for such a thing and I guess this must form a significant amount of their inome. Small bucks compared to oranges though.

Amazingly, before the bottom fell out of world trade a year ago, the UK's exports were higher than they'd ever been before.
Spain's main exports (alongside what's already been said) are clothing and more particularly shoes; cars (Ford has a big presence I believe); pottery, electricity and chemicals.0 -
