I know this isn't about saving money etc but didn't know where else to put this. I also noticed you are all good at giving great advice so here goes.....
My daughters are 2 and a half, the oldest is almost 5. They both used to sleep beside me until about 6 months ago. Anyway, their room is small, not big enough for 2 single beds aswel as their toys and wardrobes so i bought them bunk beds.
Ive managed to get them both to sleep in the bottom bunk but the oldest keeps wakening up around 12am and coming to my bed. My youngest was ill the last few days so i put her in beside me. Those nights my oldest slept until around 4.30am. So im thinking she'd sleep better on her own.
What do i do though as theres not enough room for any other bed.....2 single beds or a double bed. I thought about one of those beds with the pull out one but i have toy boxes under their bed.
My partner will be moving in with us in about a month or so so i really need to try get them to stay in own beds.
Sorry for the long post
Thanks in advance

Ooh definatly try the eldest in the top bunk if you havent already!
My girls are 3 and 4, have been in bunk beds since the little one was 18months! Eldest has always slept in the top bunk and she loves it, it took a bit of persuasion to start with got her one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Princess-Pink-Sequin-Voile-Bed-Canopy-Mosquito-Net-NEW_W0QQitemZ160362196330QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBeds_Mattresses?hash=item255654ed6a&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 and told her that only very special princesses got to sleep up the top with a few of her favourite teddies at the end of the bed and a couple of books to so that she could read in bed if she wanted she loved it!!
Only problem i have now is that DD2 has just learnt to climb up and down the beds and now she wants to sleep up there aswell, may have to try and find a way to keep DD2 down the bottom now :rotfl:0 -
Ooh, PrincessPlaty, what my mum did to keep my sister in bottom bunk was made it into a sort of den, with a curtain hanging down, that made the bottom bunk as exciting as the top! Long time ago now but might be worth trying!0

I have tried that well sort of it was a very quick attempt the other night to try and keep her thereI ended up tucking her dora blanket under the side rail of the top bunk and telling her that it was all hers and coz DD1 couldnt see her she didnt know she was there so if she stayed there very quietly and went to sleep then she still wouldnt know... it didnt work quite so well unfourtunatly :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The only reason i havent yet tried to get her to sleep up on the top is because everyone kept telling me shes still too young.
Then i started worrying about if she woke in the middle of the night and tried to climb down ladders while half sleep and ended up falling.
If your daughter is sleeping on the top at that age then i am going to give it a go tonight and see how it goes.
Fingers crossednever start frowning, because you never know who might be falling in love with your smile!0 -

lots of pillows on teh floor below! Also if you think the side isn't high enuogh you can buy extra 'clip on' sides from Ikea that attach to most wooden beds. My son has one.0

try your eldest in the top bunk but put something soft along bottom just for saftey in case she does happen to fall out.its just going to be one of those things we did everytime they wake you have to put them back in their bed.it does work eventually if you stick at it,i had personal experience of this with my youngest who is now 5.my 5 year old sleeps on top bunk whilst my 8 year old sleeps on bottom just so she doesnt wake my youngest up climbing out of bed.they have both been in bunkbeds for nearly 3 years now and no problems:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I've had my eldest DD who is 5 next month in the top bunk for nearly a year now, a sticker on the side of the bunk doesn't recommend it but my DD has been just fine and loves her big-girl bed.
Just try it and let us know how you get on, I'm sure she will be just fine.Currently takling Barclaycard - £67/£350Debt free date October 2014:jDoing it for my girlies!!:j38lbs lost in 2011SW for May 8lb/7lb0 -
as well as a canopy you could stick glow in the dark stars on the ceiling (and on the slats for the bottom bunk) might make it more magical - we had these as a child.
Also a special blanket or cushions might help, my ex's little girl used to love her disney cushion and always slept with it.0
