Yeah, don't look out for the guy who might be trying to carry in explosives and want to blow up the airport but be on the lookout for a passenger or 2 with an extra carton of smokes or perfume. Hmmmm.

I have this wonderful image of a terrorist who has managed to evade airport security with a bomb, who has managed to get the bomb on board the flight, who has taken off and landed safely and who is arriving at his destination with an overwhelming sense that he has forgotten to do something. The MSE Dictionary

Im as loose as a loose thing but when you spend most of your working life being told you should:
be looking for illegal immigrants (not my job)
looking for terrorists (not my job)
finding their bag for them (not my job)
helping them with their bags (not my job)
sorting people out for being rude to other travellers on their plane (not my job)
etc etc etc
you tend not to need it on a rest day when i've popped on here to give my advice/opinion.
Oooh and it doesnt change the fact that you havent got a clue what your talking about LOL!!!Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
There is people bringing in a extra carton and then there are people taking the mick filling their suitcases up, its these people I think customs look out for these days.
I also think customs have bigger things on there minds such as drugs.
Im not saying bring a extra carton in at all what I am saying is that mr one packet of cigs extra is small fry in the big sceme of things.0 -

I of course cant comment on this but we would/should/could be arrested and lose our job if we went over and above.
Out of interest, what are you bound by when importing from within the EU? The guidelines?
Customs guys are not all bad guys - I got stopped once coming back from Calais by a guy who asked what was in my bags (travelling as a foot passenger). I smiled at him and said "wine!" and he laughed and let me go - no fuss, no hassleFrom Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
FWIW - we flew out of Heathrow Friday, 400 Silk Cut were £44 - I thought that was a pretty good deal especially as I needed some for our holiday that was just starting. I prefer Marlboro Silver which I can get in US duty free - recall last time was $26 for 200 from LAS...which is obviously cheaper but I'd have to have bought some when we got here anyway.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
