Think my brother has been scammed

My brother recieved a call 2 weeks ago from a number starting 01554 when he picked it up someone said 'my name is kelly' and hung up. Now his phone bill is £50 over the usualy amount and he can't work out why.

I done a search of the number and i found this

Does anyone know anything about this?

If it was a mobile company it is quite likely to have been Landmark Communications trying to sell a new contract.

But that wouldn't explain the sudden bill increase. Get an itemised copy and see where the charges have originated from.

The 01554 numbering range is just a normal geograpic one.Incoming calls from that numbering range to your UK Mobile,or from any other UK Geographical Numbering range come that to cannot cause your mobile bill to go up.

I doubt very much whether someone calling you can add to your phone bill.

As said previously check your itemised bill. Either he has made a lot of calls or texts he has forgotten about or someone else has used his phone.

If possible, after he's checked his itemised bill its worth posting on here what the extra charge, if applicable, applies to, just to put other peoples mind at ease...
