Well done Co-Operative Bank.

We spend so much time sat here moaning and going on about how bad a bank is, but for once i need to give praise to one!

I have no credit rating and struggle to even get a Nat-West Step Account (was declined!), but Co-Operative Bank have setup their Cashminder account which gives you alot more than the normal basic accounts.

It gives you the Visa Electron card, internet banking, telephone banking and free branch withdrawls/deposits.

After searching through all the lists this seems to be a good deal!

I 100% agree Dan, and it's a welcome change to be able to praise a bank. I've just recently opened a Cashminder account too, which was very easy to do, is easy to use, and customer services are always very friendly and helpful, plus no problems with any transactions at all. Co-operative definitely get my vote!

I have been with the coop and lately smile, for 32 years. I cannot fault them in any way.
I am putting some money into A and L regular saver at the moment and they are totally different and as soon as the 12 months is up I will leave. The coop bank sets a high standard that is rarely reached by other banks

I too have recently set up a cashminder account, i find the electron card a godsend, i rarely need to draw out money now, so no spending loose change on things i dont need! the account was set up quickly, and i also have found the customer service to be very good!

Thanks for the info. I've been trying for years to get a debit card from my bank - LLoyds TSB, and couldnt even get one on the joint account at Nationwide. I hope this one works for me! This business of drawing a tenner out at the ATM cause I need £5.50 is bull, and the change is lost forever!

    Thanks!!!

You have been dead lucky Co-operative Bank made such a mess of opening my account they had to pay me£60 (£15 per error) they got so fed up with me complaining they sent me to the Ombudsman.
On 2 May I posted a large sum through their system of paying in via a post office. It never appeared inn my account and they cannot find it.
The first two people I mentioned this to have had similar experiences.
I have absoulutly no confidence in them whatsoever - all I can say is get out before it happens to you.

I have to agree with Kittie, 30 plus years with the Co op bank. They are not the best rates, but for day to day banking, IMHO they show the rest of the bunch the way to run a bank, not only as a business but also as a service. Any problem has been sorted out in a short space of time, as they still have branches in the UK where you can talk to real people.

I've been with the coop for years and they are great but unfortunately dont pay interest on a current account so after many years i have partially moved to A&L. Also our local bank used to have 24hr banking but now they've refurbished thats gone and that was one main thing i liked about them, so I could nip to town and put money in anytime of day.

I still use them as my 'transfering' bank as its easy for me to put money (yes I still get paid cash) in the bank then transfer whatever I like online as its so easy to use.
The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile
